Probably out of all the skills, finishing is the one where I am most comfortable. Ask most woodworkers and finishing is their least favorite and the one they have problems with.
I will say I sanded a bit too fine on these tables. But it worked out.

My dad taught me how to drive (a manual) with a 3speed. He hooked up his boat (to his '67 or '69 Scout), tossed me the keys and said, "I'm getting drunk, you're driving".
    And I said, "Wanna swap?"

Guess I'm the odd one out. While I know of a 3 on the tree, I've never driven or seen one in person.

They really aren't that bad, it was the lack of power steering and power brakes that was

Here's one I drove around the block a couple of times a few years ago, no fun at all.

Not to mention a steering wheel the size of a trash can lid.

A place I worked many years ago had an elderly Ford with a 3 speed on the wheel.

Below is what is in the engine compartment at the bottom of the column, the top arm is for low/reverse, the bottom arm second/high, they go to the transmission.
There are unseen springs that hold the sandwich together, the photo shows the assembly in neutral.

The bit in the middle with the orange arrow is what is connected to the shifter.
There is a pin on each side to work the arms.

Well, all that stuff wears down and gets floppy and sloppy. The old Ford had a nasty habit of jamming when shifting from low to second. It wouldn't be out of low but wouldn't go into second and wouldn't go back in to low.

Without fail this happened in the middle of an intersection... :censored::censored::censored:

If there were two people it wasn't so bad, the driver could hold the clutch down and move the shifter, the other guy could pry the levers back in the right place with a big screwdriver.

    If you were alone...
You are in the intersection trying to rock the truck and pry on the levers at the same time.

With practice (and a bit of prayer perhaps) it worked ok, one minute of inattention however found you swearing in the middle of an intersection as other drivers swore at you.

Those look AWESOME! Those almost make me want a coffee table again.

I like big eggs over quantity of eggs, so I prefer the Ameraucana, Mystic Marans, and the Olive egger are good. They all lay large to extra large colored eggs. The Australorp is one of the most egg laying breeds you can get, but the eggs are only medium size. While I won't get rid of the Australorps, when I replenish my loses in a couple months it will be with a couple of each of the other breeds.

I learned to drive on one, '83 Ford F-100. When dad bought it I can still remember following him around the car lots as he was looking for a manual truck. He'd look in the window from truck to truck and finally said this would do. When I looked, I said but it's an automatic. He then explained to me, I had to look at the floor and see the third pedal in there meant it was a manual and not to just look where the shifter was located. It was a good truck, but absolutely gutless. Probably one of the last years Ford used the 3 on the tree. They were great in the sand, as it was real easy to rock it back and forth to get unstuck. :mudding:

I have calculated you can put around 60,000 lbs on each table before failure. So maybe a dual purpose, coffee table/semi truck jack stand? Just thinking out loud here...
