The post I linked is from a worker at a Toyota dealer that has been posting info about number of trucks stuck at port and updates when the are released. Everything else is just speculation.

I mostly just read there, don't post much.

I have been enjoying reading some of the things the mental midgets on that site have been saying about the Off road that broke on a dirt road video. Their mental gymnastics are...interesting to say the least. Although some comments I've seen here about that might give em a run for their money...lol...

One dude's power tailgate broke on day two, and now he is wondering if he needs to just wait until his 4wd breaks to get both fixed in the same trip...lol

It won’t fit. They changed the hub and wheel stud sizes.

For sure, the main poster seems knowledgeable and I have no reason to doubt. I'm more entertained by the uninformed speculation...

It'll be interesting once they inspect it on a lift. The transfer case and front diff are derivatives from 3rd gen, but Toyota may have changed the ADD actuator from a motor to an electromagnet like they did with the Tundra. If the ADD disengaged while in 4WD, there will be no torque going to either front wheel.

I don't think the higher torque of the 2.4L is to blame. Foreign market Prados have diesel engines with more torque, and they use the same front diff. However, being full-time 4WD like the 4Runner Limited, they don't have the ADD.

So regarding the recent talk about temp spare tires and bed mats.... I'm guessing because of the longer wheelbase (thereby moving the rear axle back a couple inches), that the wheel wells are in a different location in the bed so different bed mats for 4th gen. Also due to the axle being further back, there is less space for a spare tire. TRD Jon talks about the spare tire clearance in the video above (post 23087 at the 2:40 mark).
