What did they do wrong by going up that little hill?

According to TFL they took the Colorado up the trail first then the Tacoma did the exact same thing. And they said they've taken every truck up that same trail before. So yes, they did treat the Chevy the same. And I'm no Chevy fan. They screwed me all three times I bought a Chevy so I'll never buy another one. So obviously there was a defect in the Tacoma. Either a single or batch of bad parts or an engineering fault. Time will tell and I suspect Toyota is giving this their undivided attention.

Design, manufacturing, or assembly issue. The application was appropriate, and the product experienced a notable malfunction.

Shouldnt have broke, bad look for toyota but lets be honest about what we have now. In my opinion its no longer toyota of the 90's and early 2000's. Much like how honda is no longer the reliable commuter car anymore and hasnt been for a while, toyota is transitioning out of being the ultra reliable brand.

Didn't really watch any of it other than the break. Interesting strategy when you're not moving and spinning tires to give it more gas. Seems one of the tires suddenly caught and caused a shock load.

Does anyone know what snapped? Shouldn't be rocket science to figure it out. Put all four wheels in the air if you have to, but it is TFL. Bunch of posers.

Dare I say that wasn’t even off roading lol

the trail they were running is more a fire road or steep drive way not a trail by any OHV definition higher than a green circle

I drive like that in the snow all the time since I was a teen. Haven’t broke anything doing it yet. Snow and ice is slippery.

Did you all not know that Toyota has been collecting all of the rusted out frames and finally had enough to grind down into front end parts???

People drive these things all the time in 4wd especially 4Runners when they shouldn’t. I hear the wild wheel hoping in the parking lots. There’s no way what they did to it should have caused a stress fracture in the drive components under those mild conditions. The crappy tires should have helped reduce the chance of damage as they have nothing to grip and stress the driveline with. Will be interesting.

I tried very hard to get into a 23 PRO manual and just could not find one. I want nothing to do with the new Tacoma for at least 3 - 4 yrs, same goes for the new GM twins... The GM products are plagued with software issues, not sure how many of you caught that they put a stop sale on those things in North America. While I have to admit the ZR2 completely outclassed the Tacoma on and off road, my 2018 TRD Off Road never went into limp mode or spent a month at the dealership!

I'm going to shit on the 4th gen. Overpriced.

    Buy a Frontier instead.

I didn't test drive it but I looked it over while my truck was getting an alignment. It honestly seemed really cheaply made and very flimsy. It had General branded tires that looked awful. Toyota can keep the 4th gen and it's noisy rattling little 4-cylinder. The interior was more cramped than the 3rd gen too.

Ive been checking out the Raptor Ranger, not that much more coin but way way nicer. Reliability is a ? But it's not like the Tacoma is bullet proof and more.20240223_141323.jpg
