When coyotes hunted my cow pasture I took pictures of them while mowing on tractor. When they crossed fence into my "yard" and started hunting I stopped all coyote activity. The little dot between 2 brown cows is a coyote took pic with phone while mowing I carry my 22 now not a camera

Previous cat was inside/outside when wife saw coyotes stocking across the creek that was the last time cat went out. Now with a working/herding breed they stay clear. But you have considerably money acreage than we do in the mountains.
Glad you hunt them, wildlife says we can hunt them 24/7 year round as a nuisance.

 

The biggest issue with coyotes is that they are extremely territorial. If you kill one that's on your property, another will eventually find and fill the void. I've worked as a professional biologist for over 25 years and seen just about every kind of coyote prevention tactic known to man. The only thing slightly better than not being a total waste of time is a 22-250 with a 20x scope. Get distance shots.

I have an 8foot game fence they dig under I find those spots go out before sun up wait for them at breaches and my 30 year old 22 does the job

My little boy didn’t like coyotes and he let them know it. I noticed after I got him the coyotes kept their distance from my yard. At 75 lbs of per muscle, they didn’t stand a chance with him. I got him when he was ~2 yrs old. His previous family dumped him in the desert in a rural county east of where I live in the middle of winter. He had to hunt to survive and fight coyotes so he didn’t become their dinner. So he wasn’t afraid of them and was all too ready to take them on. Being much smaller than he was, the coyotes decided to keep their distance.

 

With all the coyotes talk they got kinda close last night. They were going at it and Mal started barking and I turned on the spots at a little bit after 02:00 all quieted down and let Mal out this morning and deer were sleeping behind the house, must be a sanctuary forest.

 

I had a coyote encounter with Dex a couple weeks ago that was out of the ordinary and a little unnerving, was doing our long nightly walk and it was raining pretty hard. Got up into the neighborhood where we usually see wildlife and notice there's a pack of 3 coyotes across the street from us just sort of mirroring our pace.

As soon as Dex noticed them, they stopped and then started screaming at us in that super loud coyote shriek/howl they do. I've never been that close to them before when they do it, it was freaking LOUD. Eventually they wandered off in the other direction.

One of the neighbors came running outside when they were yelling with a baseball bat thinking that the coyotes had gotten someone's pet. I told him I think they were just talking shit to Dex lol. The rest of the walk Dex was super hyped up over it

 

Getting close to the time of year when the bears start to come down from the foothills to raid the garbage cans, will probably have some more bear encounter pics to post soon from our walks.

 

On the coast of Charleston there have been coyote attacks on dogs. Kiawah Island, Sullivans Island, and Isle of Palms.
People walking dogs and they get snatched up by the coyotes in broad day light. Little bastards use to just be night hunters.
Now they don't give a f and hunt 24/7. They almost breed as fast as geese. Going to be a when dog owners just start shooting
them on sight.

 

My black lab Abby is losing her battle against cancer. Knowing her time is coming to an end sucks.

At the ranch my home I carry a 22 I do not hunt Coyotes but I never see the same one twice

 

Tater did it again she caught a small rabbit I grabbed her to stop her from eating it and she swallowed it whole sucked it up like a hoover vacuum then gasped in pain that had to hurt In fewer words Tater had a hare stuck in her throat early today
