People with 4WD seem to think most people who buy 2WD will be sorry they did so. Lets find out whats up with those PreRunner owners,

Are you sorry you did not buy a 4WD?

Are you sorry you did buy a 4WD?

Sorry Pre Runner owners. 4WD peeps are screwing this thread up. This poll was meant for Pre Runner owners only.Should not have put the last choice up there. Opened the door for the usual sniping from the usual snipers. Going to ask the mods to eliminate the last selection

I would never buy a pre-runner. I bought my truck to use the 4wheel drive not look like a 4wheel drive

I'll be honest, I didn't understand the Prerunner thing at 1st. It makes sense to me now. I have 4x4 and need it in the winter. I know some people say they can drive in the snow without it, but I find it hard to believe. I couldn't make it out of my driveway in the winter if not for 4x4.

I love my 4wd even though I hardly ever use it. You never know when you will need it and by then it's to late. I don't have a problem with people who buy 2wd I just will never own one. I like to travel and you never know what you are going to get into whn you travel and with my 4wd I don't have to worry about it.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I'll be getting a PreRunner most likely. I'll have no use for 4X4. They barely even let you drive on the beach anymore down here which is the only thing I would use it for.

You would be hard pressed to find a pre-runner on a dealers lot up here in the New England.

I understand the "My prerunner does fine offroad" argument if you're a bro, and your offroading is driving fast through the desert.

That said, a PreRunner can't hang with a 4x4 on the East Coast. Different terrain, different demands on the vehicle, and a 2wd just won't cut it.

If you live anywhere other than southern california, and you even think you might want to go offroading, do yourself a favor- get a 4x4.

    Just my .02

Have no point of a 4WD. No land, don't want to go in the mud, etc. I use my PreRunner as a truck, but I have not ran into an issue of needing 4WD in 2 years.

I'm torn, I want a 4x4 but doubt I will use it enough to justify the extra $3000. That could go towards mods. But then again, I want to take trips to Colorado, New Mexico and other places so 4x4 might come in handy. We'll see when it comes time to look at trucks, I might just go ahead and pull the trigger on a 4x4.

I don't think that. The reason you get that impression is that folks weigh in on threads where posters come in sitting on the fence, not sure which they need. Not to rehash old arguments, but in many (not all) cases such posters, based on their individual circumstance, *would* be better served by 4WD.

That being said - many people are well served by a 2WD truck. Toyota was genius to introduce the Pre-Runner, and they sell a bunch of 'em.

The problem comes in when TW members come in and, with an incomplete piece of the puzzle, assume everyone's just like them, and proclaim loudly and repeatedly that what *they* need is what *everyone else* needs. It's the repeated part that gets annoying. When giving advice on the interweb:

    Say it once,
    Say it well,
    then Shut Up.

I love my Prerunner. Sometimes I wish it was a 4x4 but around here I dont really have a use for it, and since I dont really need it around here I dont want the extra parts on my truck that could possibly break.
