No, but statistically a failure like this happening only to one of the most watched Tacoma content creators is low. This is just a drop in the bucket of reasons to hold off on buying them. Thinking otherwise is just being delusional. Or OK with wasting time and money.

first model year, major failures a month in, and people think that this is going to get better before it gets worse. All we have to do is continue to see all the problems coming in.

I’m more concerned about the mixed bag of issues from the limited number of trucks sold and only a few weeks of driving. So far we’ve heard of the 4WD issues, grille shutter, steering, transmission and possibly an engine. WTF. Then there’s whatever’s going on with the port hold.

My truck has been fantastic, plus it doesn't have a gutless car engine in it, and it doesn't look like a goldfish bowl like the 3rd gen Tacoma does.

I thought you were more objective than this comment makes you out to sound. Each gen is different and has its strong suits. Looks are objective but goldfish bowl? As compared to a bunch of crazy creases and a transformer that rides the short bus or was thrown in the Mattel reject pile? Come on now. And I'll give you the gutless 3rd gen motor (though will prove more reliable / less to maintain long term than the turbo) in comparison to the new powertrain along with better creature comforts, etc., and the new truck being an upgrade from outgoing but just like the 2nd gen being more reliable than the 3rd let's not kid ourselves with the new gen or say that its such a better looking truck, sure it matches the current trend but that's like saying an 80's mustang is better looking than a 60's mustang, back in the 80s sure but now not so much, not every evolution is necessarily better.

You're already mad that your truck is old, which is why you're hanging out in the 4th gen subforum, gloating at the problems some people are having. Believe me, I get it. You bought a 3rd gen last year, and the 3rd gen Tacoma is already cemented in history as the worst, most disappointing, gutless Tacoma that Toyota has ever made :rockband:

You are another single datapoint. The TFL truck was also fantastic...until it wasnt. Also, as the former driver of an AMC Pacer, I can assure that you are way off with a goldfish bowl comparison.

That’s weird bro. Seems like you are just here to gloat about your new truck.
You haven’t even shared much about the truck other than a few exterior photos. How about some in depth photos of the engine bay, undercarriage etc.

I understand the reason grill shutters are a thing now, they are also extremely complex, and will become problematic down the road.

I came here to begin with, to talk to other 4th gen owners and be excited about the new vehicle I bought. But all I've been met with is salty 3rd gen owners who are only here to hate on the truck. That's cool, this is a discussion board and all.

Just FYI, there is an ignore function. I am a future 4G owner. I always conduct lots of due diligence before making decisions, and am glad others share information.

No chrome on mine. Also a lot better looking than your stock basic transformer pumpkin reject and I paid a good deal less…

nO cHrOmE oN mInE!: with ugly ass chrome headlights plainly visible. Just own the chrome bro, you bought one of the last years of the worst generation of Tacoma so it's nbd. Be sure to feed the goldfish in there.

Oh the tiny bit around the headlight surround, :duh:. Still looks better than yours and those machine / chrome wheel rings. You’re definitely showing your colors now. Go back to the other site with the rest of the kool aid bros. Mine will still be running after your turbos go or you’re stranded on the highway when it goes into limp mode over active grill shutters on a truck. Worst generation that’s laughable. No one here is opposed to the 4th gen but apparently open discussion with possible issues or criticism is unacceptable to anyone that owns one. Some narrow minded nonsense. Have had all the gen’s minus this one. Each has their pros and cons.

While it's good to keep an eye on issues before buying, make sure you keep perspective. I think I have seen 2 issues about sensors and one broken 4wd. Do we know how many 4g are sold and on the road? 100? 5000? Remember that people with issues are usually the ones posting those issues. 95% of owners aren't sitting on this stupid forum all day like us. While the QC hold is happening, no one knows why, so I'm holding judgement until we know on that one.

Nicer color too. They should have carried that over to the 4th gens.
