So we were outside the Poppy Reserve and sure enough, some little rascals are starting the show early. So we get to the crest heading towards the 138 and it stops me in my tracks yet again. A road that beckoned hardcore to the bone ala the one that beckoned when I was tuning my saw just outside of Mojave…Oak studded forests, pine, rock. Meadows.

The Twin Lakes area. South West of Tehachipi(?). I checked it out on Apple Maps and WOW!!!!

Im racking miles on the Taco these days. But hey, after fighting cancer, and having resigned from my daily duties, and in the clear 3 years out, I’m going for it.

I couldn’t get any sleep last night just thinking about this mountain and today’s run. Talk about a Dalai Lama day. That grey rock…or is sandstone? I need to find out and also check out some of these Oaks. Makes me wonder if there are some Blue Oak up there.

    I’ll report when I get back. :0)

    Not many would have responded!

Nothing to report other than it’s owned by Tejon Ranches. Wow. These heads own a lot of land. Looks so killer up there.

I HATE that gate. It has blocked a couple of my Google map found trails and targets. Feel your pain.

Ammo, I was bummed to say the least. There are homes up there. I noted about 8-10 locks in a row. Looks so killer up there.

Wondering if it can be entered via the Tehachipi side? Anyway, pain indeed brother. Bad ass to see another tried :hattip:I was all in with the Huskie 550xp just in case :0(

On a side note, on the way back I decided to check the other end of 3N17. That’s blocked too. I helped a poor young kid who lost control and ended up in the ditch. Anytime locker used to get him out easily. But his front end was bashed up. The motor didn’t sound good either.

However, on the way up there, I totally forgot about a trail on the right hand side before you get to 3N17 (if heading north) and the drop in is fucking crazy steep. I didn’t check to see the gate designation. The climb up to the trail looked pinche crazy too.

I zoomed into my original pic and it is Top to Bottom: Jeep, Tent, Campfire symbols. I guess you have to know someone to gain access to one of those locks to get in.

Ammo, I’m getting fired up here a bit. Winter. There is snow up there and probably 5,000’-6,000’. They don’t want people being stranded up there.

I’m going to snoop around some of the offices and gain some intel. The lower part of the sign looks like the PTC photo I posted. You’re passing through private land, be respectful and such is my guess.

Summer camping in some cool looking stuff anyone!?! Coffee at the airport cafe:D

I couldn’t sleep just thinking bout it, ahahaha!!!

I exhausted my search yesterday, and found no ranger district office in Tehachipi. Thought about what Ammo said, and also kept thinking about the sign I saw at the entrance to the road that leads you to the gate. JB Cattle Co.

Hmmmm…I’d love the chance to camp there and learn what forging steel is all about!!!!

Hmmmm, no "Membership" link but has a "Investor Relations" link. I wonder how much "ching" one must invest to access one of those gate locks.

    Nice site.
