Went to check out a 4th gen SR5 in Downey yesterday and snapped some pics. Some thoughts:
    1. The truck looks really good in person, even the chin strap spoiler wasn't that bad.
    2. Inside is definitely improved (modernized)
    3. The use of space has been shuffled around I feel. i.e. legroom in front seemed smaller but because of the new platform my legs were in a more natural position. The space was more "cockpit-ish"? Like the center console area was more bulky than 2nd/3rd gen trucks. Just not as spacious.
    4. Backseat room was pretty similar. Legroom was fine for me (I'm 5'10'') sat behind myself. Backrest angle seemed more upright for sure. Again, space seemed a little tighter, maybe due to the smaller windows (side and back windows were shrunk). Again, legroom was fine for me.
    5. They raised the roof height so headroom was pretty good.
    6. Also even though the bed was about 5 inches shorter, it was deeper.

Overall, just from sitting in the new truck I think I would upgrade from my 2nd gen if I had the choice. Didn't get to test drive because it was a quick look with my friend as we were passing by the area. Didn't get a pic of the sticker but I remember they were asking about 46k MSRP.

These are my initial thoughts, thanks for reading!

Sorry, but this post has too much Tacoma content. We need more Tundra, Colorado and TFL related content to be considered on-topic.

I personally don't like the cloth seats. Material seems sorta cheap but were comfortable. Truck looks good otherwise. I also don't like the 'fake wood' trim in the limited, although have yet to see a limited in person yet. Wondering if I end up with a limited how hard it will be to pop the trim off and wrap it with something that looks better?

$46,900 is one of the window stickers. That does not include the dealer adds for the wheels, tires, market, etc.

Personal opinion, but these XP package wheels look better than the standard OR rims.

Your review (including some great pics) is much better than TRD Jon’s. Bonus that you didn’t take it out and immediately get it stuck in some dirt. Well done.

There's also a panhard bar that takes up space.

The temp spare is just straight up cost/weight cutting though, since it's the same diameter as the road tires.

It would not surprise me if they "broke" the truck. Content creators are view whores. They will do *anything* for views.

Good point. I actually listened to it again and he dies say it's a 245/75 (guessing 17") same diameter.

REST IN PEACE Tacoma. One hell of a run for an amazing truck. Good luck to all the 4th gen owners you will def need a lot of it. Glad I got one of the last decent generations before this new POS. I have put my '18 2.7 through hell on trails, snow, rain, etc on 33's and not a single failure from the drivetrain, 90k miles. No wonder 1st gen tacomas are going for $10k.

It’s not that difficult to rig a failure on...almost anything.

Did it happen here? OK, no, probably not.

    What exactly broke?

    Thanks.

Shocking a 159 hp can't break parts. You drive the slowest new car currently sold in NA. I'd gladly trade some potential problems for a truck that can get out of its way.

Do you actually think that the TFL guys, all of whom have almost zero mechanical ability secretly sabotaged something in the Tcase of that truck so that it would fail on a small icy rock? Yeah that sounds plausible.

The Toyota fan boi apologists are ridiculous. First it was defending the absurd pricing. It started out as “it’s just inflation” then moved on to “you get so many more features”. Now something breaks on a truck and it’s driver error, abuse, ice, crappy tires, or sabotage. This is both sad and hilarious.
