A little ironic that Toyota revealed Gen4 in Hawaii exclusively to a bunch of YouTube influencers with the intent of manipulating positive clicks, and one of the very first YouTube content creators to get their hands on an OR (away from a Toyota-designed trail) showcased it wetting its pants on a hill in between a Bronco Sport & Colorado…Probably not helpful that another YouTube influencer sticks his OR into a glorified Florida anthill leaving us with the image of its traction wheel dangling helplessly off the ground.

Having owned a ‘16, of course I’m totally fine with supporting the “rare early issue” narrative, but if you’re gonna charge too much money for the off road version of your off road truck, maybe mix in some early content that doesn’t require recoveries.

Zero interest in stroking Toyota a $50k check for now, but man, I feel like I at least owe Toyota something for the entertainment this launch is providing me.

Just the fact they can’t even get trucks to customers is comical. My prior allocation was October of last year with a December build that slipped into Feb then had to drop the stabilizer disconnect and now is sitting in QC hold at port. Say what you want but the 3rd gen did not have issues from the get go like this. I laughed so hard at Visa Declined saying 3rd gen was the worst one.

I’m sure TFL will have a video on it once it is figured out. That’s what they do.

The only reason the Colorado made it up that step up had nothing to do with tires. It was momentum. Watch the video and you will see him miss the first attempt, then back up and get a run and carry momentum up the step. Completely different approach than Roman took in the Tacoma.

I found it funny that they were talking about the possibility the damage might not be covered by the warranty since they took it off road. The truck says “OFF ROAD” right on both sides!

god I hate it when people still do that to excuse bad business.

I personally think we should go back to blaming Obama for everything.

I've been wheeling for almost 30 years and proper driving technique, equipment, including tires, make a difference in successfully navigating over, down, or up a snow/ice covered rocky trail.

The lastest Taylor Swift album dropped

There's a YouTube video that explains what the album art is supposed to mean, and then there's videos about the video. We're all discussing it. Where have you been?

Can you go join goingplaces’s tire thread? :D
If Roman hit it with more speed even more people would be calling it abuse. :D
But I agree he probably would have made it over that little ledge with some speed.

    Yeah.
Some of y'all are walking a line here, a mod has already been in here once.

There's been an ongoing tire argument, a literal shit ton of speculation, and an assload of "I wonder when we will know what happened."

    Here's some more bullshit.

I'm betting that much of the actual drivetrain outside of the motor hasn't changed much. Maybe that little turbo'd 2.4 is just too much for this old drivetrain to handle.

Spinning your tires does little to nothing to move you forward. Continuing to spin them may dig in enough to find you some grip (offroad) or heat them up enough to find grip (on road), but if you find grip really fast, you are likely to break something.

Sudden drivetrain halting will damage even the most robust transfer case components and driveline parts. I've seen front solid axle shaft splines twisted from sudden drivetrain halting. To me the drivetrain on this is matched to the engine delivery and anticipated X-fer case torque because, well, why would they (Toyota) skimp on the most integral part of the drive system?

Dude, go back and watch that video. Compare it to other off-roading videos you can find on YouTube. There is no way in the world that failure should have happened. Hopefully this is a one-off, because if it's not this is Toyota's Note 7.
