OK, I will try to make it short and sweet. Please keep your nasty and smart comments to yourself as I am looking for assistance and positive comments here...
09 DC SB, 23K. I have very little time these days, work is rough, I am TDY (for you military folks) almost all the time at least 200 days out of the year. The truck mostly sits and my wife rides it very little. The few times I have used it to carry items in the bed, it sags big time. Looks and rides ridiculous when you have like only 12 boxes of ceramic tile in the bed and it looks nearly dumped and the front end feels like its unstable. I also have the JBL amp "blowing in the wind mic" issue as well that drives the wife crazy.

So I managed to squeeze in the time to take it nearby to me (Toyota of Claremont), and asked them not only to do an oil change, but told them about the 2 TSBs I would like to have done. Service guy tells me I must prove to him that I need them done. I proceed to tell him that "if the customer states he/she have the issues" which is written on the TSB that I have in my pocket then it should be no problem. Of course he then tells me they will check out the stereo when they have time, but I need to come back and put at leaast 400lbs on the bed to show them I have the spring issue and then they want to drive it around as well.

Needless to say, I told him he was ridiculous and that I would be contacting corporate, as I don't have time to put things in the bed and prove anything. He proceeded to tell me " you must not want anything bad enough then" Which I considered rude, I walked, not having the time to play games.

So I emailed corporate and they gave me an incident number, told them about the ridiculous comments and the rudeness of the employee and so on. They asked me who I would like them to contact and I don't know any other dealers, I couldn't find any who seemed cool enough posted here in the so cal area, so I told them Crown Toyota in Ontario. I figured, they are like #2 in So Cal sales and volume wise, so why not?

Well thinking it would be all good a customer rep from Ontario calls me, and does nothing more then tell me "So do you know how it works?" "You bring it into service and we charge a $50 diagnosis fee, etc"

Basically my email chain did nothing.

This is silly, $50 to look at my car and still be at the mercy of what a service guy decides. No Way, TSB states if the customer states they are having the issue, it shouldn't be second guessed.

This such a hassle I swear, but the truck barely handles a load in my opinion and thats what I wanted it for. Why must I go through this just to have something Toyota issued taken care of? Any ideas? Any service guys or service department managers or any employees who work for Toyota in SoCal out there who want to assist? I would easily drop a couple of hundred to the dealer or individual for this problem to just be fixed no questions asked and be not having to deal with it. I only have time to drop it off and pick it up and thats rare. I cant be proving and going from dealer to dealer to hope someone will do the work.

I will complain to Corporate once again, but it seems that does nothing.

    Thanks for listening.

I know you're pressed for time, but just to make things easier & less frustrating for you, drive down to a Toyota Dealer with the truck loaded & sagging. And don't be rude, nobody likes that. Or better yet, make it ride on the bump stops, then show them the rub marks on the frame as proof. You might already have these scuff marks there. Check it out. They can't deny you then. Just about every dealer is gonna give you the same "prove it" response. It's a requirement on their part. I know it's BS, but that's the game you gotta play with them. IMO, it's a definite safety hazard if you use your truck for heavy loads & towing. What I did is created rub marks with my finger where the frame & bump stops meet. But, it's got to look legit. BTW, they're also gonna tell you that the ride will be rougher. BS. My ride was no different. Good luck.

Thanks Rufus, especially for the rub mark tip, didn't know about that one. Yeah, it is BS, I just hate proving stuff and hearing the guys go "Well we'll see" like it all depends on them.

Tell me, do you at least know of a dealer that doesn't charge the $50 diagnosis fee? That really seems like BS!

No charge whatsoever. I don't think any member has paid a dime. I had mine done at Longo Toyota for FREEEE. I had to leave overnite so they can verify sag. Then they call you to come pick up your truck cuz they were able to verify sag and parts are on order. A week later, parts are in stock for you to bring truck back. Early morning is good idea. I think it helps if you stay with a dealer you have a service history with.

Thanks for the tips, I am going to try Toyota of Corona next week and see what happens. Whippersnapper02, did they charge you a 50$ fee to look at it? I have the JBL stereo issue as well, so it will be 2 issues which may not be so easy. I figured, if the stereo is at least fixed, I could always do the airbag ride rite system in rear which might solve my issue if this dealer thing gets to be too much of a problem.

I work with a local dealership and if I were you I would go back in to the same dealership and speak with the higher ups. At our dealership toyota corporate has a policy that if a customer buys a truck to tow, has a tow package, and can not safely do so, we MUST do the tsb but we also must send the old springs back and file the claim. If they are not helping you its simply because they are not getting paid for the labor on tsb's.

    Too few to list.
When I had my 09, it had the JBL noise issue. I also had the rear tsb done. Toyota of Whittier did both of the work.

OK, I called Jeff today on the silver team at Crown. He seemed cool and i told him he came highly recommended from a "friend". He seemed cool and said, "yeah no problem, just bring it in for the inspection and we will have to order parts and proceed. So I will keep you posted after tomorrow. Thanks again!:)
