    Hi all

I have a 19 tacoma. I want to mount a small tool box closer to the tailgate. Id like it to be semi permanent with the ability to move when i need the full bed space. Without drilling holes is there a way to do this using existing bolts in bed, rails or the tie down points? I read some posts and there are a lot of creative ideas...its just the for me like to work at the tailgate and with the cover its easier to have something close to the tailgate without crawing into the bed.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
This is mine. No drilling. Comes with J hooks that hook into the box slide rails.

I used 2 sets of J hooks per side as with 1 set per side only, my off road washboard trails would joggle the one J hook loose each time. Two per side did the trick. The J hooks come with the toolbox and designed to just hook into the Tacoma slide rails without any drilling or modifications.

I also bolt my spare up through the toolbox bottom for added security, and my Maxtrax bolted through the top with 4 carriage bolts for security.

With the J hooks, I can loosen them whenever needed and just slide the toolbox forward or back in the bed, and I have over 250 pounds of gear in the box and it slides easily. Move it, then just tighten the J hooks down again.

Just a few days ago I slid it forward so I could fit my 4 off road tires in the bed for a winter tire swap. Took me 5 minutes to loosen it and slide it forward.

it really depends on the type of box you intend to mount, and where you're mounting it.

with the accessory rails, and the body bolts coming through the bottom of the bed, it's plenty feasible to make a bracket that attaches to all those points without drilling, but could be cost-prohibitive if you need someone else to make it for you.

be sure to check ebay/Amazon/etsy for mounts-- there's a ton of non-official mounting solutions for them from other sources that sometimes work better for different situations.

DeeZee has J-hooks or aluminum blocks that mount in the bed rail system. Not a hassle to loosen and move your toolbox forward or backward.
