    Hello everyone,
I bought a tonneau cover for my son's 2016 Tacoma. After it was professionally installed it is not wide enough and the holes on the top rails of the bed are outside the cover and I cannot find plugs or maybe rail covers without holes. We asked Toyota dealers and they had no solutions, we also asked the Extreme Terrain sales rep and he had no answers either. We thought there should be plugs to cover the holes or rail covers.
I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem and found a solution or not but if anyone has an idea we would appreciate the help.
    Have a great night!
    Donna

Yeah, those aren't how the bedrails come from the factory. It's hard to tell, but I'm guessing someone had a rack in the bed. The cuts look pretty clean, but you will need new bed rails.

Those are bed rails that come with trucks that have the OEM bed cover. You'll need to buy new bed rails as there is no 'caps' made for them that I've ever seen. You will also have to unscrew the latch bar thingy that's right there in those cutouts.

As mentioned those are bedralil caps from oem cover. New rail caps. They run around $200+ for oem.

Thank you so much for your input. Someone from Extreme Terrain is calling today, I know they do not sell top side rails but will see what my options are like. I found some top side rails but none for Tacoma. Have a nice day!

From my limited knowledge, there’s no such thing as a “water proof” tonneau. Even with the new bed rails. They all leak. Just a little. Not trying to rain on your parade, no pun intended.

is the tailgate at the bottom of this pic?
there should definitely not be a gap like that if that's the tonneau/tailgate seam. granted, mine never seals fully, but the rubber seal is touching the tailgate enough to prevent the majority of water from getting past.

this was a non-factory adjustment to the bedside rail caps. as others suggested, you'll need new bed rail caps. i highly recommend contacting junkyards for a discounted set. i've routinely searched on ebay for yards selling used tacoma parts, and then individually contact them to see if they have the parts i need. many are much more reasonable than the dealer.

Correct!! They can be made to be more dry, with trial error. The local truck outfitters I have used many times (company vehicles too) have a waiver signed before they will order or install. The waiver is the purchaser acknowledging they understand the tops are not waterproof.

OP does have another issue, the cut top covers, that are surely creating a large leak.
