No I put the nut on and honked down on it to see if it would suck up and the thread was still well short of even being close to flush with the top of the nut. To me it's like why spec 8.8 fasteners and then not install them to spec.

And the pic doesn't do the driveshaft clearance justice. It was close enough that I could not get my fingertip in the gap. We're talking paper thin, 1/8" MAX. I know that shaft shouldn't move much/at all in relation to the frame, but it was too damn close, to the point I was very much worried you'd hear magical self-clearance noises on a trail. The diff is mounted to the frame with bushings after all, there is SOME flex.

That really sucks. I would talk to them and see if there’s any sort of resolution.

I dunno, I mean the design is the design. some of those carriage bolts being longer might be nice, and that's an easy fix, but the clearance to the driveshaft and stuff is kind of "it is what it is."

I'm not gonna dog them on social media or make a fuss about it, but it just kinda sucks.

It’s still worth talking to them about it in my opinion. They’re a huge company, don’t just eat shit on the deal. They might tell you they messed up your order somehow, they might put your mind at ease, they might do something else, who knows.

I tend to agree with @EatSleepTacos here. Either 10s of thousands of people are running it this way without enough blowback to hear about it, or you got a bunk one. I’d send them pics of your concerns and ask for feedback. If it’s normal you should feel confident selling it closer to MSRP (or finding a hardware store fix), or if it’s fucked hopefully they will make it right with you! Don’t worry about hurting their feelings, it’s just business and your concerns are valid. Either way you shouldn’t be eating that much shit on this deal. Although I do get wanting to just wash your hands and be done with it… Good luck whatever you decide to do!

I got a Liberty safe from there about 5 years ago. It's pretty basic but works great and I like it - except for the fact that Liberty rolled over on everyone and handed out the master codes.
