That happened with us last year. Farmers bought met life and were going to triple our insurance. We ended up switching to progressive and saved a bunch. I think the best way to do it is shop around every year or so.

Not afraid of ladders or heights, I just realize my sense of balance and coordination is not as sharp as it once was.

Won’t work if the temps aren’t low enough and it is expensive. Snow on the other hand is removed from roads and parking lots and trucked to remote areas to melt. In high snowfall years those piles can last into June or later. Much cheaper to hire dump trucks, a loader and grader and move what snow is needed. Probably no charge for the snow either.

    Edit: Temps in Maine recently.

I am afraid of ladders & heights because my sense of balance & coordination is way worse than it used to be.

I had a local handyman repair an attic window for me on one of the in town houses.
There was no way in heck I was going up that ladder.

It was nice outside and I wanted to do something - but not work very hard...

Fired up the old Ford to clean up the driveway some.
(Notice the town brought my excavator back ;) )

    KIMG3839.jpg

In all these years I have never had mud in the driveway like this - remember it is fairly steep, more than it appears in the photo.

    KIMG3840.jpg

    This stuff is just goo...
Mrs Green will probably most certainly back right into this tomorrow evening...

A paradox of living out here:
Anywhere you want to dig there is a solid sheet of rock just an inch or two down - that Marcellus Shale that was big news a few years ago.

    ...and...

Anywhere you want to drive however is seemingly bottomless mud.

    KIMG3841.jpg

    It follows you home too...

    Home insurance is such BS

Same thing just happed to me with Allstate, except I found out through a notice of escrow increase from my mortgage lender. I had Allstate set to paperless delivery and autopay and never open the emails from them. They raises my yearly rate by over $2k.

Welp now I’m with State Farm and back at my original rate :D

Insurance is an interesting rabbit hole . I have had AAA that was reasonable but the car rates went through the roof on us after my wife had a small claim < 3000 should have paid it out of pocket. We're with secura now 2400 for house, 21taco, 18 Kona and a mil wrap.
