Couple years ago a nurse at a doctors visit ask me if I wore my seatbelt. I said yes ma'am, it's the law and you should wear yours.


Now what does me wearing a seat belt have to do with a doctors visit?

 

Sounds about right. You take care of your stuff, and some natural disaster comes through. Your insurance company takes it time paying you for your loss. Then, turns around and increases your rate. The big companies get rich and we struggle.

 

Might be a statistical question, the doctors office is going to see 1000's of people from a broad cross section of the population over a year, lots of data.

 

Dr. Office visits do you have any guns in the house?
But they don't ask are the secure away from children?
Sooo even if you're responsible their counting who might be dangerous.

 

My answer to that is no, guns are dangerous. So are knives, we don't have any knives in the house either. Or weedeaters or forks. All danger has been removed.

 

We all love to hate on insurance companies.

At the same time I can see their point to a point - after decades of dealing with and hearing the stories about the dumb@$$$ things that John Q Public does on a daily basis an insurance person probably sleeps worse than I do.

 

Are you sad today? In the last 30 days have you had thoughts about harming yourself? Have you felt desperat?

 

My guess as well. NSTA or some such agency asking health care to ask questions for 30 days to get data.

 

Good morning, the insurance rate increases you guys are talking about are something that I'm glad I'm not experiencing at this time.

Ours went up in July 3 years ago. We know what happened hit her friends car in our driveway . But will it go back down? Probably not.

 

I like the question do you feel safe in your home. Sometimes I say no I'm terrified of my 4'9" wife. The look I get is priceless. I haven't gotten the firearm one. Now I just get the stupid 3 word guessing game, For dementia. I have gotten the self harm one, once that didn't go well either. When I said the toy poodle takes care of that need.

 

It's my data, and they can't have it. My answer is usually, that's none of your business OR how does that relate to the issue at hand

 

Ok fellers, here is a question. I'm a professional driver and take classes on safe driving regularly. How come with all this training our insurance companies don't give breaks on premiums for training on how to avoid (accidents)?

 

The only legit answer to that is 'not enough'.

 

Yeah, we get the are you safe in the home question too, at VA docs...i kinda get their point but ultimately their goal isnt your well being but a way to take away your rights.
