i made the mistake of polishing my frame and swing arm on my 2000 929. Was a pain keeping it looking good. Never again!!

Got my wife on a motorcycle by herself for the first time yesterday. She's ridden my 50 ages ago but that of course didn't have a clutch. She did awesome.

Strictly focused on letting the clutch out smooth, then braking with the rear, then shifting, then braking with the front. Really the intent of the day was to let her try a shorter bike that was more her height. She rode my Husky up and down the street a few times with me running after her a month ago but that was strictly at idle.

Not mine, @JLink was kind enough to have us over to let my wife try his street legal TTR125 and use his WR when I was teaching her. Super thankful for him letting us have this experience in a nice and safe environment.

    Nice job.

Having lived and rode in FL for many years we saw that oxidation on any MC part that was alum and polished, esp along the coast. All it takes is an invisible nick from a pebble in the clear coat they put over the alum. to start the corrosion in that spot and there's enough salt in the air to do the rest.

I found it easier to leave it uncoated on my nice bikes and re-polish them periodically with semi-chrome, I wouldn't take that route on a daily driver though. For me it was allot faster and easier to freshen it up with a soft rag and some polish periodically after they've been stripped and polished the first time, reclearing them just delays the inevitable. I like Semi-chrome for it's shine on alum.

I stripped and polished the black rims on a zrx I used to own, the polish was easy to keep up with despite never being re-coated with clear afterwards.

thats awesome! i was wondering if that was a 125 but couldnt tell lol. looks like you all had a great time learning! a buddy of mine told me i can let the girlfriend train on his tw200 or his xt225? (he has two of the smaller Yamahas cant remember what its called) when ever she is in town which i appreciate since it will let her learn before buying a bike

TTR? I think I’m gonna put my fiancé on my xr100 and see how she does. I’d like to see her ride a little. I’d even buy her a bike if she got that interested

That's my current plan, getting her the XR150L after she sees if she can flat foot it at a dealer. A ready to go street legal bike for her height for $3500? Yes please. Be perfect for family days in the pines with her and my son.

ya its a great plan and price point. i did see some people change a rubber tube to help with the oil consumption and then they are great little bikes

Good to know. I'll have to research them a bit more for that.

I liked this little squad video too.

I don’t believe so. I think he used it around town. Just a little road machine. I’d get bored pretty quick on one or I would have bought it already.
