Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad the store was able to overcome what could have been an otherwise bad experience. It would seem your complete satisfaction was their primary concern. If you could let me know what store this was, I would like to pass on your words of praise.

Really considering grabbing a set of these in 255/85r16 to replace my 265/75r16 at3ws but I’m concerned about the weight. 58lbs is HEAVY!! I’m on the fence

After staying up last night doing research I decided to order a set from discount tire today. They will be here Tuesday or wed and I’ll post some pics and review what I think.

I'm currently running 265/75 AT3Ws and no lift. Once I get the skinny 33s on I just need to choose a lift.

That’s awesome! I think you’ll love them. Just make sure they get them balanced right. Turns out, I’m not balanced right or have a defective tire(s) and have to go back Saturday. They got four new ones on standby for me though. So, one of the weights may have come off. As I also got the new Method wheels.

Loving mine so far! Super smooth and quiet especially compared to my previous Duratracs.

    I was concerned also. BFG KO2 255 75 17 are 11 pounds lighter.

I was unhappy with my previous Wildpeaks, even when they were $550 a set mounted and balanced, but was going to give them another shot. Super happy once again with the BFG.

I'm still waiting to decide on tires because I'm worried about the weight of these. Did you feel a big difference in acceleration and braking? Also how much lift do you have in this picture? Looks great!

Mine took about 300 miles to “break in” and get to feeling just right.

Don’t think I’ll ever go back to another brand.

While I’m not the person you’re asking, I did want to add something. When I went from my 265/75/16 to these 275/70/17 (Nitto Ridge Grapplers to AT4w) I noticed that braking felt so much smoother. Maybe it’s all in my head… but I know this tire is bigger, heavier, so who knows.

Thanks! I’m running about 2.1” front and 1.5” rear lift here.
I can feel the additional size and weight with this size but I came from a much lighter 265/70r16 C load. There is slightly more throttle required for the same acceleration as well as a bit more brake pressure needed. It still gets into 5th gear just fine on the highway though (AT).

Overall I'm very happy I went with the 255/85’s over the 265/75’s I was considering.

Remember that with a larger tire your mpg will be lower than normal.

Coming from a 2nd gen single cab 4 cyl., I am super sensitive to weight. But even with a 6cyl 3rd gen it matters. Most built tacomas seem way overweight - shells/campers, gear/racks, bumpers, tires. The MT baja boss may be the perfect hybrid tire, but the weight seems a bad fit for the midsize with a jumpy AT. Like others I keep talking myself into the 255/85/16 at4 but the weight bugs me. The at4 seems more of a full size fleet tire maybe. I like the maxxis razr at, though only a bit lighter, and the yoko at - x is light for what it is but may not be good enough in the snow. Installing lift soon so need to decide on tires! I want the most aggressive AT that is reasonably light on a 16” wheel.

Not sure if maxxis makes the razr in a p rated 16" wheel, but I'm running p rated 285/70/17 it's only 43lbs per tire. Major difference in braking, handling, and acceleration from e rated k02's I was on before.
