Yeah, I had nothing to relate my speed off of either. The little things on the side of the road were too small and close to the car to help. I just remember the sound (very loud) and the tunnel vision forward. It kind of felt like the movies, like the front was crystal clear, but the sides were a complete blur.

Greenlane... It's actually where it's welded through to the other side and yeah, looks like a jack support spot for the crossmember.

Just weighed them and the heavier one is 24#. The other side with the KDSS cutout is gonna be a bit less. Altogether I'll only be adding about 100# to the truck and while it's not the best protection, it'll let me have a little fun in the daily.

In the 21 years we've been in our house, I have went through 2 Home Depot GE units. They used the same fitting, so 10 years apart I didn't need to do any additional plumbing. It looks just like the Rheem ones (shape, they are now grey) they sell now. 32,000 grain. I have them in the heat of the garage. First one sounds like had similar failure, low flow, probably silt from the lines. Second is still going. I figure I'm ahead from a cash flow perspective considering the cost of the fancy stainless one they demo'd all those years ago. I mean, $400 every 10 years?

    Aquasure 48k grain.

Ideally you should have a whole house filtration system (sediment/carbon filter) inline before the softener to prolong the life of the resin and filter out all the city junk in the water.

Their R.O. systems are good too...

You mean like a whole house filter or a pitcher with a filter? The water here in Maricopa is dogshit, TDS is off the scale, if it were any harder it'd be sandblast media.

The one that shit the bed was an Aquasure but the 32k size. Was more suited for 2 people in a 2.5br house. Dunno what went wrong with it other than it's the reason our water pressure goes all wacky and pathetic in some bathrooms. Currently bypassed.

    Speaking of water...
What really blows my mind is that the tap water gets FLAMING hot during the summer to the point where the water heater basically doesn't run all summer, yet noone in the valley has heard of water chillers that are commonplace in middle eastern countries. Doesn't make the water cold, just takes the edge off of it down to 70 or 80 so you can have a shower that isn't going to melt your skin.

Maybe the resin leaked out and clogged the system? Another thing to check if you have water pressure issues is the pressure regulator on the side of your house where the pipes enter. Those cake up with calcium/magnesium and need to be replaced.

A whole house sediment and carbon filter (not the pitcher type) like the one I linked. That'll filter out all the crud and help the resin in the softener last longer.

Lots of companies trying to rip everyone off in the valley with different setups. The Aquasure resin type softeners will actually absorb the calcium/magnesium (hard water minerals) and the salt tank will rinse the resin weekly during backwashes. They had the best prices at the time, but have gotten more expensive over the years.

The other salt systems that just dump salt into your pipes don't do anything other than give that slickness feel in the water. They're also hard on plumbing.

My 48k Aquasure has been running solid for a few years. Completely understand the hot water issue in the summer. I have a Rinnai tankless and during the hot summer months the water coming from the house pipes is definitely much hotter. That's the first I've heard of a whole house water chiller. I know they sell them for pools.

We do have a big chiller unit on our service for our water jet. Apparently they really don't like compressing hot water very much. Something about creating linear defects in the cylinder walls

Its a $ thing for efficiency, a chiller adds in more components and depending on what kind; refrigerant etc. You could have a evap style, but now you have a added water cost into the system etc. Plus if the water is already hard, then evap cooler media doesn't last long at all.

That was such a shock for me when moving here last summer. I didn’t know that hot tap water was a thing.

Another side note about softener systems. If you're running one you'll want a tankless HW heater as they don't have anode rods. The softeners will corrode/dissolve anode rods in regular HW heaters rather quickly and will need to be replaced over time.

It was actually a blessing many years ago when our original 10 year old HW heater gave out during the summer. We still had warm water while waiting for the tankless HW to be installed.

    70 degree shower?

If I get out of the shower and my skin isn't red I didn't take a hot enough shower. Even in the summer I take scorching hot showers.

Milton is going to be impassible once In N Out opens so I should get on it.

Jitters is a good hole in the wall next to harbor freight (but I realize on the other side of town).

Like someone else said, Mama burger just reopened so I have been meaning to make my way over there.
