Also... Don't the DRL's shut off/turn amber when the turn signal goes on? Would that effect the feed?

I totally forgot they are switchback on my year. It's seeming more and more like I should just wire them to my switch panel

The "switching" of the color is done at the headlight PCB board, not anywhere else. So the DRL input is not affected by turn select. But like all 3rd Gens, you loose DRL input at LOW beam select.

Not on the TRD trims. The DRL circuit remains live when the turn signal is on, the headlight itself just ignores it when the turn signal is on.
You can still do a simple tee with diodes. No issue there.
    Yeah, what he said

Note SR trim does flash the combined turn / DRL circuit with turns / hazards. As it’s one wire. All this discussion is for TRD trims which have two wires, dedicated turn and dedicated DRL. Everyone here already knows this but I’ll spell it out for the record in case any SR guys are reading or stumble on this later.

Yeah, SR's are trickier. Still doable, but not as easy. Of course, if you have an SR/SR5, you can have blinky backlights with the turn signals. Of course, that is an option with the TRDs too if you really want...
