thats an american gallon. canadian gallon is 4.545L. you take the canadian gallon and divide by 1.6(kilometres in a mile) and that gives you 2.81.

No one uses the Canadian Gallon. Which is really the british gallon.

If you want to use canadian units, use L/100KM.

    MPG is in imperial gallons.

I seem to be getting 14-15 for around city driving right now. Kind of sucky coming from my 5 lugger SR5 but the truck is so much better!

Sorry yes, imperial gallon for UK stuff, and USA has their own gallon.

But any #'s in MPGs I see always use US gallon. It gets confusing otherwise, making your milage look a lot better than it is. (Bigger gallon)

Agreed , I always convert to MPG in US gallons so that comparing to others on this forum is apples to apples .

Ya. Remember google is the most kick ass conversion thing.

Can type "12 l/100km in mpg" and it will convert it. Uses US Gallons by default.

Agreed. I like to know my estimated range before I run out of gas, not how much gas it takes me to drive 100km.
