I've got some foam parts between the front sections of my '16 Sport bed that are working their way out, causing more than usual leakage. Is fixing this as simple as putting a small pry bar between the two pieces of bed and gently opening the gap to shove the foam back into place?

Runaway foam parts circled in red below.

    Any help appreciated.

Don't know why you have the foam in there at all. I would just pull it all out and leave it out. I wouldn't use a pry bar or any hard or heavy tool that might damage cabin, bed or paint.

I bought the truck with 12k miles on it. I have assumed all along that they were OEM half-assed foam blocks put in my Toyota. I was looking around on here this morning for similar threads and found a few about leaking beds. Mine leaks like crazy. I assumed this was part of the reason and the half-assed "fix" by Toyota. Maybe it was by the previous owner.

It’s in there to “waterproof” the bed. Op has a bed cover of some kind and removing it completely would leave two enormous gaps at the front of the bed, exacerbating the problem he’s talking about.
@SwampThing18 you don’t need to pry anything, just use something malleable to seal the gaps after you pull that out of there. There’s lots of posts on waterproofing these beds with better recommendations than I could give, but I seem to recall mastic, rtv sealant or plumbers putty being recommended

I'd ditch those foam pieces and hit the gap with some silicone caulk. Works like a champ.

I agree caulk it, in the future if you decide to remove it the caulk should come right off.

Sooooo, this isn't a stock part?
I guess I'll silicone it when the weather gets nicer.
    Thanks.

Not stock, but Id just push it back in. That rail is bolt on, silicon on it, I think will be kinda janky.

    But thats just me.

What would you do? squirt silicone in there and glue the bed pieces together along with the cover? Thats like 4 separate pieces glued together. Janky jank.

The other option with the foam filler is to pull it out and reinstall it from the inside.

Ha, and for a few years I've been complaining about Toyota using some stupid foam in there. Still a weird gap to have.
I've got a soft top, so leaks are an issue anyway. I'll probably wait until warmer/dryer weather and shoot a bit of black silicone in there. I've got a few other things I need black silicone for around the house, so I'll use a bunch one day.
Until then, I'll jam that foam back in and hope it's jankiness doesn't cause anyone else any visual pain.

Leaking bed seems fine to me. If it was an SUV it’d be a different story. Are y’all putting stuff in the back while traveling?

Buytl tape is your friend. All kinds of different ways to seal that spot. I just used some scrap pieces of tailgate seal and buytl tape. Some have just stuffed it with butyl tape others go foam sealant or silicone etc.

Sometimes, yes. I've got a 1/2" thick rubber mat thrown in the back for now, as it keeps the hockey bags up off the bed and allows water to flow out beneath it, most of the time. Sometimes the bags get a little wet, which can be annoying. Putting on cold/wet gear sucks for a kid. And an old man.

Also, the more water that gets in, the more musty smell I start to get when it hasn't been nice enough to take the windows off the soft top.

Just little annoyances, but I also thought this "foam fix" was an OEM part for a while. :D

Are you positive this isn’t the source of the musky smell?:p

Ha, no. The stuff gets aired out after every use on custom built lockers. It smells a little, but nothing like most people's. The hockey gear smell is quite different from mustiness. I'd take musty any day!

butyl tape - I tried silicone and found the butyl tape works better, less messy than silicone as well. I just smashed the butyl tape over the foam piece but mine hadn't moved yet. My topper doesn't leak much back there anymore, especially after I siliconed down the plastic bed rails. I had a lot of water coming in thru there

Yeah that makes perfect sense. I want to buy a. Retractable soft top soon for my access cab soon! Maybe drill some extra drain holes or something to help it drain out and remove some extra moisture? Just be careful where you drill. lol
