Think about this.. F250 Tremor, 6.2L gas. Dont need to tow anything, so dont need diesel. Or Diesel adds $12k snd I wouldn't use it. Mild lift, pretty good tires. And you're set. Only thing, I built one and they're less than a Tundra OR or Pro. So maybe a $700/month payment.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Looked up the 2024 Tremor. Starts at $63,900, without the basic tow package. Local inventories are mostly over $70. Nope.

Basic XL Super Cab (Access cab in Toyota terms) 4x4 with skids, tow package, and audio upgrade (AM/FM/Sirius) is still 50K. No "creature comforts."

2024 Tundra SR5 with the basic OR package is $52,600. Aftermarket winch bumper $1800-2000. This just seems the more logical route, for me anyway, if I were going to a full size truck. I just can't see 60k or more for a vehicle.

It looks really good! My neighbor has an sr5 which also doesn’t look bad. I think tires alone are a big transformation for the new tundras

With out knowing what creature comforts you are lookin for (we all are different), this is what I’m considering. There are 3 similarly built and with in $1k of each other (high to low). Happens to be what I’m looking for and no unwanted extras like the taco that never got used to show it’s potential. I’m looking at near simplicity now days. .

this would work for me as well.

All four are pricy to me because of the oldness setting in. :D

The Wifey can have all the do-dads she wants. which is really only heated wheel, heated seats and a sun/moon roof. Those are her must haves as She has been very used to them over the last 20 years.

edit: The major plus to me is, being able to use the E-locker in all drive modes. Ie: 2 high, 4 hi and 4 low. Granted speed is limited to 20 mph in 2 hi/4 hi. And then it will unlock above that speed.

Those aren't bad, but I don't see me needing the 250 payload. 150 is good for me. But I would want the extra cab space with the dog and road trips. I wouldn't mind a few more conveniences like the power seats for better adjustment for me. The wife's car has me a little spoiled with the heated / cooled seats and heated steering wheel. I wouldn't mind those as a stand alone add on, but not part of a 4 digit add on package.

Rite rite. In my eyes, I see the payload of the 250, the same as all the electronical stuff on my OR. It’s there if I need it. As for the regular cab…. 99% of the time it’s just me in there.

As for your creature comforts… Hey, I totally get it. We’re all different. My whole working life has been outdoors in the suck year around. I’m used to no creature comforts at work. Heck, I have the windows down most of the year, even during summer. I will turn on the AC for a touch of coolness. Gotta climatize yourself. Other guys run it wide open and damn near die for trying the slightest amount of work. Same goes for the winter. That said, when I’m home… it’s on for comfort.

While it would fulfil a childhood dream, it pains me to admit that my parents were right. I don't really have room for one in Arlington. :-(

Happy Monday! I probably shouldn't rinse my truck off in housesitting client's driveways anymore...

    How'd everyone's weekend go?

Yeah, hard pass for me. Probably want $16-$18 for a 4 pack, too. Aside from the name, I wasn't all that impressed with the original. Come to think of it, I'm not impressed with most of the beers from this region.

Are those pics from the ROK or here in CONUS? That would be cool if you could wheel over there!

At the stealership for an alignment (they do that well here!) and walked then parking lot. This is a row of Tundras, about 20 of them. One off road, one sport. The rest are all Platinum, Capstone, and 1794 ? Editions. All of the are $68k or more. The Capstone is a stupid $84k.

I hear that there is a excess amount of tundra's because they are so expensive, and the interests rates are so crazy. noone is buying them.

they are stupid expensive. This one in leesburg isn't bad but still, even with a trade in (2017 SR5) I'd probably be looking at atleast $700 a month plus who knows what my insurance would turn into...

a big killer for me is the property tax too

then I was having a conversation with one of my friends about how much money he saves a year doing maintenance himself...I think 3rd gen tacomas were a pain to work on, I wonder how much worse a new tundra is

Hell, just look at the new Tacoma pricing. My trim is ~10K more from 2022 to 2024. +10K for a nicer interior (debatable), a new rear suspension/brake setup, and a smaller turbo engine? No thanks. Sure, I'm sure there are more differences between the 3rd Gen and 4th Gen, but I still don't see the value compared to the price jump. I mean, I might think about switching sometime in the future, but not without lower interest rates and a healthy discount from MSRP. I really think Toyota overshot on their pricing for these trucks.

And full size trucks? Forget about it...those aren't for the poors like me, lol.

I actually have no idea how much maintenance costs. Its been years since Ive paid someone. (If you're interested, i can probably do it for half the costs of shops haha. Things like oil, diffs, filters, wheel bearings) or doing mods. Back in the old days, we could have a mod party and install a bunch of stuff for free pizza haha!

I saw recently that someone paid over $1200 to replace pads and rotors on their Jetta at the dealership - 1. I would have done it for $500 and you buy lunch, and 2. Whyy?!?!

today, this picture is $2k in labor, and we were doing it every other weekend?
