Anyone thinking about letting their 3rd Gen Taco go for the last of the Gen 5 4Runners?

FWIW, I have had 1970's Jeeps on 35's, a 1988 Bronco II with 13" lift on 35's, 1st gen, 2nd gen and 3rd gen Tacoma's and put them threw hell and back. Trails, jumps, floods, etc.. always made it home. I had 1 4Runner. I rolled it over like the 3rd week I owned it. They are too top heavy to use for anything besides getting groceries in my opinion.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
For those of you that have driven/own both… how would you compare the ride handling specifically the SR5 base 4R and a trd OR Tacoma, both stock?

My 2013 TE 4R has been solid. I sold it to my old man 2 years ago.

True but not the case with the third gen Tacoma.

Tacoma's resale value is extremely higher than F150. Every year Tacoma's are in the top 3. FYI the used vehicles with the top resale value of all time is the FJ. It is something like 98%!

    There really isn't any comparison.
One rides a lot like a pickup with an engine that likes to be revved, and the other, an SUV that's not so much. Although, unfortunately, the 5th gen 4Runner needs more skinny pedal than it's 4th gen predecessor to get the same get up and go, going.. Performance presumably sacrificed in the name of gas mileage, but idk tbh.

Not being sarcastic, but if you're in the market, you'd definitely need to take the 4R for a drive.
It's not like attempting to explain the difference between the handling of the Tacoma Sport vs Off Road to a guy that already owns one of the two.

In all honesty, if I had to choose…I’d say the 4R is a nicer vehicle. My wife has the OR Limited version of the 4R and the ride is great, the space inside is amazing, most of the features are equal. I will say I like the dash on the Tacoma better as it seems a little nicer where the 4R is kind of oversized and gody. I unfortunately have the auto Tacoma so the MT wasn’t an issue. I wanted the MT but my wife can’t drive one, so she vetoed the MT.

Originally I wanted the 4R but needed a truck. We already had an Explorer so I was forced into the taco. I love my truck but our family is a tall family and for that alone the runner wins out.

Off Road Limited. I wasn't aware such a thing existed.
Seems like an odd combination, given the AWD and wheel package normally associated with the Limited, vs what we know normally comes with an OR.

You’re right it’s a 4R off road premium…I’m still a little bitter it’s not mine so I try not to put too much thought into it j/k just misspoke, thanks for catching that! I believe it’s different wheels and perhaps some interior items. She wanted Lunar Rock and seat warmers…this is the one we found. Not really sure the other options.

    Beautiful!
My wife was a rural mail carrier and won't drive anything else.
I too, have found myself eyeballing hers with some level of jealousy.

The comparison of OR and sport was exactly what I was thinking. I’m definitely gonna take a bunch of test drives to be sure before I make a decision with my taco that is permanent.

My wife has an sr5 t4r and it rides far smoother than my trail edition taco. If I didn’t need the truck for truck stuff I’d trade it for another 4Runner tomorrow.
