Would need access to LEO or repo service contracts and even then only in covered areas and even then only when they can cross reference registrations and even then only if they catch it on a plate reader.

We're doing good. You should stop by a bit more often! I think Erik checks in more often than he posts. Lol

    Looking for recommendations:

My parents' 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs an engine. It has ~280,000 miles and the 5.7 is finally toast. The dealer is quoting an astronomical amount to find a donor, well beyond what seems reasonable. Does anyone know of someone who does this kind of work as a side gig / at relatively inexpensive prices? I'd do it myself but the confines of time/effort/life mean it would take me significantly longer than they would be able to survive without an car and they realistically need the vehicle functional again reasonably soon.

Are you trying to go geographic (is it still in service) or specific address?

You can create a CarFax maintenance account to see if the vehicle is still alive, but it won't give you a ton of information about it. Obviously a PI / LEO / etc will have other solutions.

Wow that's a lot of miles in a 2014. That's great that they got that kind of mileage out of a jeep engine but I guess that the 5.7's are supposed to be pretty good???
I used to know a guy that did that sort of thing on the regular. He used to have a shop right near my old place but he's retired now.

Edit; the most miles in a Taco is this one with 1.6 million miles.

Anyone ever had issues with car play using USB to connect? Mine is working intermittently for some reason or another. Also xm is still on and I already said no thanks to a customer service representative. I can still play my Apple Music no problem but can’t get my map up

Sold when motor blew. Hasn't been in service since. I have a possible lead in Fairhaven. If I found who purchased it last I'm sure that'd make things easier

In my wifes 2018 Camry we needed to run both the Toyota Entune and Scout GPS apps in order for the GPS to work. After 2 years they asked us if we wanted to renew our Scout subscription but seeing how cumbersome the system was I decided not to renew it.

Long highway commute 5-6 days/week. They also have a 2500HD that gets driven a few days a week. The 5.7s aren't particularly known for longevity but my parents have taken excellent care of their GC.

Clarifying question - you can't get apple maps/google maps/waze/etc up on car play? Or the native entune sat nav map is not coming up?

When I first got the truck I plugged the phone in. CarPlay came up on my phone . Then a map on the left with phone and Apple icon or tile on the far left and whatever was playing on my Apple Music on right. I can play my music but this isn’t coming up ……

I’ve tried different plugs and it works from time to time. I know it’s going to work when my phone excepts the charge and the the CarPlay comes on . Wondering if the cords are shit or inside the plug needs to be blown out .
    Does that help? Thanks

inside the compartment the plugs worked a little weird as well. Why I’m leaning towards cords . Also I did a hard reset on phone.

Info request for those with offspring.

My wife's cousin just got a westfalia, they're hoping to get out a bunch this year with it. They have a (will be for the summer) ~6-9 month old to contend with. Looking for some advice for them.

    • Camping spots. I really hope I can get out there with them, I'll have my setup and by then will have a fridge, so that will hopefully be a huge help. But they're looking for campgrounds with bathrooms, but don't need hookups. They're in Marlboro area. I'm going to see if they want to come down to RI to Burlingame this year sometime.
    • Any advice for camping with a 6-9 month old that you learned the hard way?
