Cab mount hack job.

Many years ago I took my truck to get a cab mount chop and the guy messed it up bad. I just got new tires put on the other day and there’s a little rubbing. Any suggestions on how much to take off?

do I need to paint the cut area to prevent rust?

 

Id keep grinding till it fit, then if that does work, paint it. Thats what id try first anyways. Its not like you can make it worse, because to me the next step is having it redone.

 

FYI, I painted mine with spray-on bed liner paint you can get from any auto parts store. It's thick, plasticky, and tough. I just gave it a good coat while the wheels were off and then hit it again quickly once or twice a day for 2-3 days (with wheels on) to get a thick coat and good coverage. Looks like your fender and/or fender flare is going to need some trimming, too. With 33's I had to trim a little plastic off the flare/liner and stopped right where the metal started. You may have to trim a little metal, too. Same bed liner paint for there as well. Looks like you're running a larger diameter tire than mine? Good luck!

 

Just do a front driver and passenger side tire delete lol. I did the same thing, I was way to excited about getting my cab mount chop done and didn't do any research, the shop did a pretty shitty job. I recently decided to do the cab mount relocation and found a much better shop.

I think it just depends on who is doing the work and how skilled a welder they are.
