when 5ghz wifi came out, i experienced a number of issues with older wifi modules in various equipment failing to connect. most modules are supposed to default to the 2.4ghz iteration, but many fail and try defaulting to the 5ghz that's not supported. there's a few workarounds if you can locate the ssid, and create a rule in your router to force it to only allow it to connect 2.4ghz. but it's a PITA, and only works sometimes. i'm told standing on your head while doing a rain dance helps.

i don't really believe any reviews anymore. there's so much moderation going on, almost none of it is worthwhile.

More work on the little 1/2 bath. Plumbing tied in and installed the vanity top and sink. Finished the trim work last weekend as well.

I'm gonna have to re-do my caulking job around the sink and top. Don't know what was up with me today. New flooring goes down in the kitchen and this 1/2 bath next week. After that I'll get the toilet line tied into the stack and get this project wrapped up. Everything will get painted when I re-paint the kitchen (walls and cabinets... again...)

corner caulking jobs are always hard for me. what's always worked best for me is credit/gift card plastic cards. normally the as-is radius is enough of a proper shape, and the cards stiffness helps leave a much crisper edge than any of the caulk-specific tools i've tried in the past.

If this is to be an inspected job it will fail on the plumbing. Code does not allow for a sanitary T to be installed on its back. The correct fitting is a Wye.

I knew this comment was coming. I thought I had bought one and a street 45° but apparently not. I had to use what I had to close it up. I have to take out that section of copper to the left that goes into the main stack and will correct it then. I edited the post so it doesn't look like I'm a complete hack.

Here is a little project I did for a friend of my wife's. A little more work than expected. But turned out ok, the sill from the old door was 2" thick. It's cleaned up better with a storm door. She was told by 4 other handymen that it would be impossible to put a new door in. I got it completed in 2 days 5.5 hours each day. Problem was having to exchange materials or not enough. Probably about 6 hours of work. 5 hours at the home improvement center. This was last fall. The gal was happy. And the sill got sealed and finished off nice.i ended up using a 6" white steel fascia to cover the 2 piece treated 2x8 1 full the other plained down to a 1/2"

How much time would you spend trying to figure out why a bathroom vanity is 1/16 of an inch low on one side? The vanity has been in place since 2018 and over this past winter of notice that the caulk is separated, and the whole right side is lower about a 16th of an inch. image.jpg

I'm a little OCD, so I see the need to correct this. Still, unless you have time and money to blow, just a bit.

Thats not much in todays home building, temps change, product/sealant shrinks. Unless you see water damage, id get a no shrink sealant

Added an outlet in my coat closet. We keep our printer in there and would run an extention cord to plug it in. Now its seamless and will always be plugged in.

I'm going to steal this idea. I've got a 3D printer that's noisy AF and runs for 30+ hours at a time. Putting it in the closet on the other side of the house is a good solution to the problem.

Just if you plan on closing the closet door, maybe watch temps. You may need to run a fan into the closet so the printer doesn't heat up and compromise the print towards the end.

I would be fine with “settling” but my issues is that it’s only on the right side so now the 7’ wide mirror sitting on the backsplash is crooked. I wonder if I should just remove any screws holding the vanity in place and try to add shims?

1/16" isn't a lot.. but if the back splash and mirror are also moving, I think you need to figure out why you're getting that movement in the first place.

I would check the floor and outside foundation to see if there is a bigger problem looming. If not caulking.
