    lol @ toyota here or lol cause you dont understand torque multiplication?

    Oh yea not saying neither of the 2 dont have their issues as well but everyone calling the ADD (FAD for the other 2) a "fuse designed to blow" is horseshit

    Man this is super disappointing to read. I knew I should have went with my gut and gotten a Jeep. I drive forest roads all the time and I have serious doubts the ADD will hold up. If Jeep can figure it out, should have been easy for Toyota. But no.

    YoKramer is right you know. The torque applied at the axle is higher due to the Jeep's deeper transfer case and diff gearing.

    Side note, the shock lower mounts and piggybacks hang extremely low in the rear and will get damaged by short rocks in a right hurry!!!

    I have the same question. Maybe Toyota did a code check prior to pulling the drivetrain? On the consumer side, with all the possible messaging on a digital dash, and with the flashing lights for same during 4x4 engagement -- it does not throw an error code or otherwise provide a message saying "unable to engage 4x4, service required"?

    As the "proud" owner of a 2016 AEV Rubicon, you will find no safe haven there. The factory sway disconnect is notorious for shitting the bed and at 23K my valvetrain decided to end it all. My third-gen Tacoma was no walk in the park. My JK makes it look bulletproof.

    See my previous statement. I didn't see that there was a part 3 and they found out it was the front diff.

    Personally, I would have never guessed a front differential or related parts would have broke so easily.

    I corrected my previous statement to acknowledge what they found.

    I had a 2012 Rubicon, 2 door. The 3.6 is gutless, but if you know what to watch out for with the roller bearings in the rocker arms, it's a known quantity and easy enough to fix before it eats a cam lobe. Basically limit idling and change oil way more often than the book tells you to. A swaybar is easy enough to work around and won't end a day our four wheeling too. Just unbolt the end links and off you go. Did Moab with that Jeep, was fun.

    The FAD on the JL is part of why I was worried enough to not get a JL when I sold the JK, seen a lot of posts where people were bombing around and pulled the FAD tube out of the main axle tube. But I guess it's better a failure when you're driving like a goober vs driving up a mildly slick pebble.

    Started talking with a dealership about finding one. Not bought one yet, thankfully. Might go back to Jeep, at least their FAD works. Broncos are too ugly.

    If the TFL Taco had been rock bouncing maybe that would be different. But that kind of wheel spin can happen in a snowy parking lot.

    Yes, yes I did. You said you only saw two videos.....there were three posted after he edited the original post. I shared the 3rd one which you said you didn't see.

    I thought it was kinda obvious the tacoma isn't a torque monster, but you guys have low posts counts, so you'll catch eventually.

    You could just delete the short. It’s contained in the larger Part 1 video.

    Exactly. BTW, your post from earlier got me doing the math about how the torque multiplication breaks down for Jeep's turbo vs the Taco's:

    Taco: 317 ft-lb * 4.43 (1st gear auto) * 2.57 (tcase) * 3.58 (diff) == 12,920.5

    Rubi: 295 ft-lb * 4.71 (1st gear auto) * 4 (tcase) * 4.1 (diff) == 22,786.9

    The torque multiplication is almost half of what a Jeep's FAD sees. The ADD didn't even keep up with a stock weight truck slipping, can't imagine with the weight of an ARB bumper and a RTT and every other thing I can find to "Add to Cart".

    It’s crazy. That guy was probably into his truck for $90-100K after that repair.
