I managed to talk them down to $5.9k for 31 hours total. Their data says 30.8 hours average just for the head gaskets. Sub total still comes to $6,467.33. It's $900 less, which is nice. I'm still not convinced they need two full kits, but I'm running low on haggling ammo. lol

It’s probably better to just do them both and not have to worry about it vs doing one and saving $500 and then spending $6000 again to do the other

They're going to want to do both to keep them at the same age and wear rate, especially if they have to warranty their work which they do. Also, if they have to pull the engine or pull the cab may as well only do it once. Because a lot of that labor is just disassembly to get there. Why pay for it twice? Long term? Probably doing you a favor by doing them together

No a "thing" with 3rd gens. Like any mechanical beast, there's about 6 billion things that can go wrong. And with mass production, sometimes QC won't catch everything

It makes more power than the second gen is more efficient than the second gen is quieter than the second gen rides better than the second gen looks better than the second gen and because it's geared lower actually puts more torque to the ground than the second gen...

it makes a bit more power then the second gen but is slower(raced many because bored with friends lol), it is not much quieter.... the engine is yes but the cabin is not that much... looks are veeery subjective i love the 2.5 gen i do not care much about the 3rd gen looks. the gearing thing isnt that only with the manual? could be wrong since i dont remember lol. plus as marx said the 4.0 is very reliable so ill keep it over the little 3.5

Condemned 2 2nd gens this past month. Haven't condemned any 3rd gens :D

Faster depends on the driver. Bet my 17 OR is faster than your 15 SR5 :burnrubber:

And no, the auto gearing in the 3rd gen is still deeper than the 2nd.

So many options on this one...

    "raced"
    "better"

    etc.
