These guys rated it “well above average” which I’m not sure is a ringing endorsement lol…. I think most people’s complaints about Orphan Barrel is lack of transparency on where it’s sourced and the high price. The juice itself if actually pretty good. My only gripe with it is it’s proofed a little low. Low to mid 90’s I think. Anyway. As you said people hate on it but I think they do it mostly because it’s popular to hate on it lol.

It is absolutely excellent! I managed to score 3 bottles of 10yr and 3 of the 12yr. One of each are gifts for my BIL and I have one of each open. They are both definitely worth chasing although I doubt I’d be willing to pay the exorbitant prices some are asking. If you see either one it’s 100% a buy.

So on the note of Pappy...I've been hitting little liquor stores around me just to see what they have and tonight I ran into someone I knew working at one (didn't know that until tonight). I asked if they had anything special hiding in the back or under the counter. She said they have some Pappy 10 year. I got excited until she said it was $800. My pallet isn't sophisticated enough to appreciate that level yet.

 

I will also add that at another place I got a cashier to admit they had Buffalo Trace in the manager's office but he holds it for people he knows. That's some BS. How do I get on the list?
