Windshield Glass

Is it me or has the glass that is being used lately become, for lack of a better word, crappier?

I have about 6k on my new truck and I have a lot of pitting, a chip, and some very slight scratching already.

Noting I do live in an area that gravels during winter, but the past trucks I have owned have seemed to be more impervious to this sort of thing. Yes gravel does this, but it almost seemed like there was an "imaginary film" that would protect the glass for a year or two before wearing off. (Yes that is just what I believe) but my windshield looks a few years old already.

 

You may not have experienced it with yours but windshields were very common with 2nd gens.

It's just an old platform with a steep windshield angle.

I live in one of the worst areas for rockchips, its odd to see a highway tacoma without cracks and chips.

 

Yep, windshields seem to be cheaper the last 10 years or so. The Tacoma angle also seems to take damaging hits extremely easily as well. I know a buddy that is on his 4th windshield now. I pay extra for zero deduction windshield on my insurance for a few dollars a month. If you do a search this seems to be a common issue anymore.

Buy the rubber ducks in bulk?
All I see when I look at a Jeeps windshield are rubber ducks........
