Does anyone have any super secret, cool, away from the crowds, camping spots you'd be willing to share with a couple old guys in Death Valley? Just to let you know I'm running skids and rock sliders, but only 32" tires guys.

I was always partial to sportsmans chalet.
Coming back from a couple days backpacking or wheeling, its a good place to sit on the patio and enjoy a beer and an elk burger

Took my Tacoma to play in the snow, bought a pizza, ran a science experiment.

Drove to elevation today ... 7000 ft from my default elevation of 1100 ft. But Ranger Rick had closed all of the playgrounds! First is "Rim Rd / 300" to overlook Payson AZ, second is NF 616. I like the bent over tree at 616 gate ...

    Two pictures of trees

I saw a new symbol on my center display (that ice-thingy)

Not much snow still falling, but some

This bottle was closed/sealed at 5000+ (maybe 6000) ft. At 1100 ft it shrank.

Yep they close basically all the forest roads in northern AZ from dec 15-April 15 for “winter” regardless of if there’s snow or not. Got tired of having to rescue people. My bad for not warning you. This is the first year in like 6 years I haven’t done my annual post about checking for forest closures before coming up to play in the snow. And that I’ll happily come help anyone that’s stuck so long as they aren’t somewhere they shouldn’t be.

About the only place open in winter is the cinders in flagstaff.

Question, I replaced the wheels and tires and purchased new Toyota TPMS. Idea being that leaving the TPMS in the existing wheels and tires would be helpful when I sell them. Unfortunately, the system can recognize the TPMS for low tire pressure but will no longer display the pressure for each tire individually. After several attempts by Discount Tire, they recommended the dealer. The dealer wants at least an hour of labor to look at it and rectify. Suggestions or ideas on how to get the system to recognize the new TPMS without the dealer? I can certainly understand now why people retain the TPMS from their old wheels.

How far have you driven? Sometimes it just takes a really long time for the system to start working normally again.

I thought there was a tpms button under the steering wheel. I am sure if there is thats what discount used to try and set them tho.

Discount uses a handheld that plugs into the OBD2 port.

I'm assuming it hasn't changed since I turned wrenches for Toyota but if you have the button under the dash, it's just a position re-learn for when you rotate and learning a new sensor requires pairing done with a scan tool. So the options are either pony up the cash or make DT do a sensor swap for you if you bought them from them. There are third party tools and many shops will have the factory tools now so you can try an independent over the dealer to get a better rate. Everyone will probably want the standard hour commitment up-front though.

DT offered the sensor swap and may go that route. They hooked up the scanner to the OBD but apparently their scanner is limited on capability. Appreciate the feedback from everyone.
