The bean counters laid the 20 engineers off - replaced by AI. But no one told the bean counters that those AI jobs are unfilled because no one meets the qualifications for those jobs.

In the absence of not seeing the part, nor having knowledge of the root cause analysis, and relying only on some prior manufacturing issue with Tundras (blaming American manufacturing) is premature.

Plus, as I wondered yesterday, where is the drivetrain actually made? Where is the actual part made? Are all these parts made by Toyota? (Not.) We know the engine comes from the Huntsville plant. Is the drivetrain made in the same plant? Then sent to Mexico for assembly? I am really curious about the Toyota manufacturing supply chain.

I doubt Toyota will ever disclose the truth about this publicly. We will get a carefully planned response with a part failure that checks all the boxes for the curious. Too much money is riding on the new Tacoma.

 

I was watching a video last night - it was amazing on how much of the 4th gens undercarriage went to aluminum parts.

My first thought was that the aftermarket fab shops are going to make a mint on this truck.

 

This guy kinda loses all credibility when he says the Tacoma is built in the USA...or maybe he is afraid to put a picture of a person from Mexico on the video and circle that.....

 

Yeah, but they did box in the frame. Unfortunately they also made the tow hitch part of the frame. So gaining better departure angle is going to take some cutting.

And that dude's video is idiotic, but about as accurate as any news is today.
