    Hi Folks.

I will be inspecting a 2010 FJ Cruiser trails edition, as the seller is okay with a pre-inspection, would any have a recommendation for a place in the zip code of: 95123?

    Thank you in advance.

Good luck! Always a good idea to have it inspected. FJ prices have been coming down lately, would love to have one, one day…

    Thank you.

For the 2010 FJ Trail Teams, Katskinz heated leather seats..

I just placed a deposit , so the owner does not commit to another party.

In exchange, I have the keys..

I got his driver's license pic, met him at home address..which I've verified he been there for over 20 plus years.

I'm excited as well learned it was his late wife's.

He asking 21k with 147k miles.

We signed an agreement so next step is inspection, smog check and take the FJ home if all is well

I also obtained his business card...

So I hope I am fortunate

I'll post pics with the taco and fj.. if all is well

Cheers and thank you for the well wishes.

Make sure they check for coolant leaks from the cylinder heads. Not many issues with FJ otherwise.

Is it the tan trail teams? Share pics if you go for it.

    Thank you.

It's not mine, at this time, just hoping that the pre inspection and cost to address the error codes don't cause me to think.

I paid 180 pre inspection, for the trd supercharged, cai , and exhaust for the voodoo Blue, ready to fly to Oregon and passed based on the report...i passed figuring poor maintenance may be problems.. especially with 5 owners.

Thank you I will share pix.. cheers

Photos look good and the story is good and San Jose is not Oregon. Lots of beaters up here in the PNW.

Hi Dean! Long time South Bay resident here.

This might be the one and only time that I would suggest a dealership for the PPI. Quite a few shops turn away PPI jobs these days because in the future, if there is a problem, the shop that did the PPI gets the blame. Regardless of fault. So shop owners turn away PPI job because the basic 4wheel brake service job waiting behind the PPI pays more, less risk, etc..

Having the toyota dealership perform the PPi puts the dealerships reputation/weight behind the inspection...

BTW, im not sure if dealerships even perform PPIs but I would inquire. There's a Toyota dealer in SJ and Gilroy.

Thank you for your insight and suggestions ().

I shall contact the dealerships and see what they can do.

I usually do annual oil changes at the dealer to get their inspection. Even though I'm "overpaying" for the oil, I get the multi point inspection "free" and they are incentivized to find problems because dealer service is the cash cow to run the dealership. Doesn't mean I have them fix stuff if their quotes are higher than reasonable.

You _might_ be able to get the owner to pay for said oil change rather than potentially paying for just an inspection, or split with you, assuming you're providing trailer transport or temp tags to drive it there?

The CA DMV stuff for temp tags is where I get lost.

    1 oil change per year?

Do you only drive around 5k miles a year?

    Serious question...

Three trucks, maybe 500-1000 miles per vehicle? And I'm contemplating a crappy used Leaf so that may drop significantly. Prior to getting a workshop (9 miles away, hoping to ride my bicycle there in the summer months) I would typically only drive once a week.

Right on. That makes sense. You had me worried for a sec thinking the taco was your only vehicle getting 1 oil change per year lol
