Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
What almost always happens to any company that is big enough. Built a reputation and made a name for themselves, then eventually trade in on that name for a temporary but large profit boost. Not saying thats necessarily whats going on here, but its no longer surprising to me when I see it happen.

If you look up ‘tool’ in the urban dictionary, that older guy’s picture should be next to the definition.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
No matter how much real world testing you do, you never cover all of the things that could happen. Look at Ford and the Bronco. Built in a cold weather state and no one new about about the soft top letting snow in? You know how much that cost for in replacements and delayed release? There is a multitude of video of the Bronco in Moab and other places getting put through the paces by Ford engineers. And YouTubers doing the same thing before it was released for sale. Then some guy sends it at Moab and breaks a LCA. Now you can get a Bronco (if you want one) with heavy duty LCA's and the aftermarket community has stepped in as well. If you listen to the chief engineer interviews, they also did a lot of testing of the new Tacoma. And now the TFL video has set everyone's hair on fire. It's the first version of the 4th gen. There will be issues and they will get sorted out. It's an important vehicle for Toyota, just like the Ranger is to Ford.

They think this will happen to every 2024 4x4 Tacoma. Such drama. But it's TW.

You should probably highlight what you fixed. But greed drives a lot of things across a lot of markets and categories.

I think if anything rushed it, it was the pressure brought by Ford with the Ranger and the Bronco. All new everything and the 3rd gen lagged way behind.

I haven't heard of any other 4th gen trucks having ADD failures. Is there anyone else?

Personally I wouldn't get my panties all wadded up over one occurrence. TW making the Himalayas out of an ant hill.

    Yeah.
Could it be that the driver hit the switch to take it out of 4WD, it was trying to get out of 4WD while he was spinning the tires, started to release and broke the sleeve? Just doesn't seem like much has changed in that design.

I thought the 3rd gens were subject to oil starvation issues when on an incline for an extended period of time?

They are. Happened to me once. Light came on, backed to a less steep angle and light went off. No issues.

I think so. Or maybe the vehicle only has to last for the length of the commercial?
