Great informative and accurate summary! Fact based and speculation noted when speculating!

Do you think Toyota is going to issue a press release or something?

I'm with you on that one. I'm still waiting to see a 4th gen in person, what I've seen online looks far better than I expected, but damn, give me a 4.0 liter straight 6! I've had enough vehicles with that configuration to know how awesome it could be. You want torque? That's how you get torque!

Awesome engines, like a tractor. The only thing that sucked was the fuel mileage. But with a modern 10 speed transmission it might be decent.

I'm not sure that would make a difference. I've had several Jeep XJs with the 4l I-6, A Jag XJ6 with the 4l I-6 and my wife has a BMW 335ix with the 4l I-6. All of them got within a mpg or two of the same lousy mileage. All were worth it though!
That being said, out of the dozens of vehicles I've owned in my lifetime, my current '15 Tacoma is in the top 2 of my all time favorite rides. The '24 is tempting me, but I have been trying to resist... lol

When have they ever come out and said anything unless the government is forcing a safety recall?
This shutter issue will most likely just be a TSB for the trucks already sold and they will fix the ones that haven’t been shipped yet.

You lost me Turd? I didn't say they would. I then said they have you to do it with your factless post on TW. But I agree that if it is an issue a TSB will resolve it.

Why do you say it’s fact less? I didn’t make this up. It’s info from a couple dealership people.

    Auto makers issue
Well if it's from dealership people then it must be right! I say its not fact based because there is no word from Toyota and as far as I am aware nobody has had this potential shutter issue fixed at a dealer with a service ticket detailing what was replaced, adjusted, repaired. Everything else is just internet talk.

You know there’s dozens of 2024 owners at the site you linked and only a few of them have any issues and none seems to have been major. The rest are just enjoying the truck. You wouldn’t know it over here because it’s just a bunch of armchair engineers who don’t own the truck speculating over this and that. But there’s a whole world out there who own the 2024 without probs.

Ok. You can live in fantasyland and I’ll live in reality. We can revisit this in a few weeks for the “told you so”.

Ok you tell me Turd! But what are you going to tell me exactly? That Toyota issued a TSB for the issue? That several people have visited a dealer for diagnosis and resolution? It already looks like at least 1 dealer documented case and fix has been posted and there will be others soon since others are reporting the issue. That's exactly what I want to happen so please let me know the second you see a post disscussing the topic! Oh, I'm Just curious. Are you considering the purchase of a 4th gen Tacoma?

You lost me. I don’t know what we’re arguing about anymore. :D
Yes I will probably own on 4th Gen eventually. It won’t be anytime soon as my current truck is running fine and costs me nothing.

Were not really arguing now. My issue is with people posting opinions about a truck they haven't even laid eyes on let alone sat in or driven. Take the shutter deal as an example. You would think by reading some posts about it that it is unfixable and the truck will be an unreliable POS for the rest of it's time on the road. Everyone that bought one is a fool and got screwed. Toyota has sold out and only cares about profit from their overpriced truck. You can't even say anything about the truck without somebody posting how their gen Taco is better more reliable, cheaper, V-6 instead of the shitty 4 banger turbo, on and on!

I'm not saying that's you but there are many that fit that description here. The only thing I hate worse than arguing with nameless faceless people on the internet is reading their uninformed opinion in a thread I'm interested in.
