I'm not sure, it looks like there is a potential mine portal or small cave that goes into the mountain about 5 to 6' above the ladder but with the ladder being icy and having to free climb that remaining distance was too risky. I plan to come back later in the spring to investigate the area further. There is no cell service at this location and I didn't get any until I was about an hour away.

Wish I could go with you. You should have someone along. After all, whatever got the former occupant might still be around. Chupacabra!!! I've already got too many things to do. It looks like that ladder would reach another five/six feet if fully extended.

A while back I was poking around the back roads of southern Utah and came across an old uranium mine. Nothing unusual about that as they are literally everywhere. While I was checking out the old cars (sigh - no pictures) a woman that looked to be in her 70's pulled up in a truck. We started talking and come to find out this was her father's claim and she had been keeping it current since the early 60's. She was a great story teller and I asked her about the old cars. She said they belonged to the mine workers and when the cars quit running they just left them there.

The first pic is of a sweat lodge. The canvas and other fabrics are laid over the the frame to hold in the heat. Is that a pile of firewood behind the lodge? If so, that was brought in to heat the rocks used to generate the heat. I would not be surprised if the people who built it won't return to have another "sweat" after winter ends. The nearby water source would be handy for the lodge too. Very unusual for someone to build a lodge and leave it in the desert.

Not posting pics of it out of respect. Once I was part of a Search and Recovery team for a lady missing in our Neighborhood, Christine Mustafa.
    https://www.abc15.com/news/region-p...-more-information-about-missing-phoenix-woman

Me and another guy split off and searched a canyon along Cave Creek just north of Deer Valley Road and the Central Arizona Project Canal / Aqueduct. At this point she had been missing for weeks. There was no expectation of a live recovery so we were looking for evidence mostly - Minute Details.

I found some coyote scat that contained hair, a hair scuunci, and a fingernail. Took a picture and dropped a GPS Pin on the map for coordinates. When we returned to base, I showed it to the police who told me is was insignificant, inconsequential and not worthy of their time. I still pull that up on my phone from time to time and wonder if she's still out there. If not her, then who (more than a few bodies have been recovered in / near that canyon) and how would a coyote come to eat that and it still be inconsequential to the police?

Thats prob more than enough evidence to search that area. Was it a whole fingernail?

The police were fairly sold on the fact that he had her in the landfill. I think they didn't want to deviate from that narrative for some reason.

I wonder how much a DNA test costs? Maybe someone related to the Police Chief was a subcontractor looking in the landfill...

According to the forensics shows I've seen, they can be thousands of dollars.
