    Is it Friday already???

That's kinda like asking why doctors don't make replacement skeletons.

Frames aren't like like a set of wheels or a stereo. They often represent years, if not decades of research and design and are an integral part of the entire vehicle. NO ONE mass markets an entire "aftermarket" frame (for any vehicle).

The closest you'd likely get are some of the race shops that manufacture tube chassis frames (buggies/trophy trucks), but those aren't going to be compatible with any brand of "stock" vehicle.

Frankly, Toyota did people a HUGE favor by giving out a bunch of free frames to people who rarely, if ever, bothered to wash of the road grime/salts off their frames. While I don't live in Minnesota, I did grow up in the foothills of the Sierras where even there rust prevention was considered "common sense." No one blasted Ford because the beat up old pick up they used to go skiing with started rusting. We just pressure washed them and dumped oil on the frames. Though I guess in the case of Ford, they usually had enough engine oil leaking out that kind of took care of itself...

It boggles the mind that there are people out there who needed to replace their frame, not once, but twice.

people love to blame Toyota but as I remember, Dana manufactured the frames and Toyota sued Dana corp for the manufacturing flaw that resulted in the frames rusting more easily than they should have (https://www.torquenews.com/106/dana-corp-ordered-pay-toyota-25m-frame-rust-issues)

That's not to say Toyota doesn't bear responsibility or accountability for what they put their name on, and they did....by giving out frame replacements which is a lot more than any other manufacturer has done.

Why does it boggle your mind lots of Tacoma Owners never even change oil.

We still hear people buying Trucks with no idea of the frame issues even some used vehicle dealers.

There is just not enough of a After Market demand to tool up and build a frame to be cost effective for Tacoma`s

Before the China Flu I had heard a Philadelphia Area dealer was willing to sell new Frames built by Meritor who got all Dana`s Jigs and Fixtures for around $5000.00

When I bid the Labor The End user changed plans so I never looked into any more.

Good find, I once worked for a company that had patents on airbag and clock spring components. The company apparently would not allow Toyota to manufacture/license those parts in Japan so the Japanese set up a parallel manufacturing line in the same plant. They wanted to use their quality control on the parts. I recall one of the US company managers telling me they deserve their success because he saw how important quality is to the Japan side

The whole gas pedal debacle was also a bad vendor in China. None of the identical parts made in Japan failed.

I have worked for lots of companies that have products or comps manufactured in China or Mexico and they have to have parent company employees there 24/7 checking process/quality or it will go to %$%&.

Of course with automotive there are sooo many suppliers all over the world its probably not possible to have people everywhere all of the time. The plant I mentioned above is in Juarez Mexico and I believe its about 100 miles south of the border. One of the employees told me he took a Taxi from the border and the guy was driving about 100 mph! He asked why are you driving so fast? Driver replied "bandits". So you can imagine its quite a sacrifice for the Japanese to live there on and off.

I didn't find an aftermarket but there are places that still sell oem frames. I tracked this one down for my truck if I ever wanted one

Only the Newer Members have no idea about the lack of any more First Generation Frames.

Looking into building New Frames for After Market Sales The market compared to all the production costs is just not there.

Only hope is someone like roadster shop deciding it’s worth it. But that’s probably 10 years away at least

if I were to design a replacement frame I’d find a way to make 2nd suspension work up front for improved ball joint reasons. And well… aftermarket
