LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

Is yours one of the engines that had a specific valley cover, that was then swapped for a different valley cover, which removed some unnecessary function. There by taking the seals away from under the valley cover, and no longer keeping oil pressure? A lot of specific names that I don't care to look up at the moment.



A variety of the above valley cover plate, can fit multiple iterations of engines. It is critical to make sure the o-rings are used on this style. To keep oil pressure.

 

4L80E from Maximum Off-road Transmissions is ordered. 6-8 weeks.

Anyone have a junk 4l80 core I can have?

 

looks like the l33 does not have afm towers.

 

I would say either that or the oil pressure bypass barbell might of failed.

 

Is that the one at the back of the engine?

 

yeah factory is plastic and can break from what I’ve read, not sure how much of a difference it can make to oil pressure but if the engines coming out it’s always something to check. Also not sure what his oil pressure is running at.

Got the front driveshaft out, oil drained from the trans and tcase, engine coolant tubes out. I’m being really lazy. I just don’t have the motivation to do more tonight. The rear driveshaft bolts are incredibly tight. Soaking them in WD40 tonight. Will try and again tomorrow with some crows feet.

Tonight that my exhaust needs also needs to come off. Hopefully it comes out easily. It’s all one piece which makes things a little complicated. Might have to just cut it and have them weld flanges where I cut it in case I ever have to do this again. So I’ll tackle that tomorrow too, then it’s just pulling the bell housing bolts, torque converter bolts, and the crossmember.

 

Oh that's all? Easy.

 

Rear driveshaft is out, exhaust is unbolted, crossmember is out and supporting the trans with a jack right now.

I have to cut my exhaust to remove it
From the truck…. Not a big deal just really annoying.

every time I think the truck is done leaking coolant, it piss dribbles more right in my face. The wife is getting me a change of clothes and my sawzall from home, then I’ll pull the shifters, torque converter bolts, and start the bell housing bolts. A trans jack might be a good idea too. I don’t necessarily feel like bench pressing a transmission but depending on how lazy I am later I might.

 

yeah definitely need to put some v bands in.

 

Trans is out. 3 days, start to Finish with me being lazy and only working 3-4 hours each day.
