Let's See Your Dogs!!

Had a bear attack here last night, which is unusual here.

I'm in the bay area ca. We've had a coyote explosion that followed the last couple years turkey explosion. So I was looking out the window and noticed my neighbors dog going up and down the fence line and saw a couple coyotes on the other side of the fence trying to figure out how to make a meal out of my neighbors dog. Sorry for the crap pic.

 

Yeah that's sad to hear happen, glad she survived though. With all the bears we get around here I'm surprised we don't have attacks like this every year, even though they're black bears and relatively docile...a momma bear won't F around if her cubs are nearby.

Of the several encounters I've had, the only one that was a bit unsettling was when the bear followed us for a bit. Not running or anything, just maintained a pace a little ways behind us for about a block before turning back around.

and another time I rounded a corner at night while walking Dex, the house right there had their trash cans right next to the corner and I didn't see that there was a bear right behind them halfway into a bin it had knocked over. I think it was about as surprised and startled as I was but I didn't stick around to see much past that lol. Dex usually alerts me to them before I see them but that one caught us both off guard.

 

Look at time stamp. I'm looking at the inside of my eyeballs at that time, never see em in daylight.

 

We purchased this stroller to take our little girl "Mya" for her walk to the park in her last days. She was the sweetest and smartest little dog in the world.

All this talk of Coyotes reminds me what happens when man influences critter populations. Folks started planting gardens where I grew up, the deer started spending more time on the hill. After a few years, they were at home in folk's yards. Then came the coyotes and also drought. More slow deer and more pups...crazy times.

 

He's spotted his replacement Llamacorn. He has a couple of these, and has lost a few due to overly enthusiastic playing. He picked it off the shelf at a local Petco years ago, carried it through the store as i shopped, through the cash registers so the gal could charge us and out to the truck in the parking lot. It's been his favorite ever since.

 

We hit the field yesterday. They usually mow once a week but not so much when it's wet.




It managed to get up to nearly 70ºF so he's got the slobber generator going. Dare I say after the rains, this was a welcome run. The wet grass and rain serves another purpose and that's a free bath. Then, off to Starbucks for a coffee. He has people there and they asked if he wanted a pup cup. They fed him from the window much to the chagrin of those behind us. Don't worry, they didn't wait long. At the very least, he will stick his head out for some lovin' from at the drive thru and you know? I'm OK with that if he makes people happy.

 

Not a lot of snow here, but . . . same.

I can’t leave out the Coop (Cooper) he turned 10 in January.
