I bought grass seed and weed and feed this past week. Windy and cool today, going to be 60 later. By Wednesday 70's and nice. Planning out my week, have a lot of appointments. Thursday going hiking at the Biltmore estate again. Going to be checking the blades and chainsaw chains sharpeness.

 

@koditten we found the kennels by the Biltmore house, they're tucked away under the shade trees in parking lot c2.

 

My grass is starting to get green everywhere already and my bulb plants have been shooting out fast for a month now. There's one small section of mulch around my lilac's and it's weed city for some reason. Been sprouting out all winter

 

Definitely green and growing, farmer across the road/field said the other day copperheads will be out soon. Living with hay fields all around and woods there's a lot of weeds, especially clover

 

Yea my entire backyard is surrounded by fields, so I definitely have to keep on top of weed control.

 

Wife and kids saw a hawk fly over the other day with a snake in it's talons, said the snake was squirming. I have a better love for hawks now

 

You know what I mean. The dog kennel has been getting fertilized all winter . A couple years ago I had to put the kennel up and a retaining wall so all the grass got tore up. The 1st. year was all straw it's filling in but still need to get grass seed down till it fills in.

 

You live a little farther east than me. We got a few Bald Eagles living around the area along with the normal Redtail hawks cruising along the creek. Soon won't be able to use the field out front during the growing season.

 

I won't have that view very long though

The only good thing is they can only put in single family houses on that land as there's no public water or sewer to support apartments or townhouses.

Look at this guy -- "spring cleanup season" and his lawn already looks like a golf course.


My lawn has so many bit-o-tree on it I will use the tractor blade to clear it - if the mud ever dries up...

 

No, that was last April I want to say. That pile of dirt besides the cistern/patio is now nicely mulched.

 

I think the last time we got appraised they said we have 3 home sites in the field.

 

Well that is encouraging, I feel a little bit less inadequate now.

 

It's gonna be real ugly when it goes down. It appears I have more land than what was stated on original boundaries. Also my septic field goes on that property a good 30'-40'. Back in the 60's it was all family so nobody cared. It was extended onto that property further in the past 20 years. Going to be a real expensive adventure. Move to the country they said, it'll be fun they said...

 

Maybe, it looks better than that now...

My neighbor was having septic issues a few years ago and the states suggested him bore under the state road and put a pipe along his bridge and pump everything to his hay field next to me. Me why don't you pipe it to my old barn area? So for a $1.00 and a signed rite of way and thousands less. That area gets a lot of fertilizer too. That area won't perk for septic too close to water and wet, not useful.

 

Took me a while but I finally unboxed this and put it together Saturday
