So, the problem with my truck is that the left UCA bushing is worn out and the right wheel bearing is totally gone. Total bill is over $1,600 parts and labor. I am paying for the tires with my tax refund, and my amazing parents are going to give me an interest-free loan for the rest of it, so I don't have to dip into my savings; I will pay my parents back when I get a job.

I did not get the tires put on today, and I initially want on a scrap run because my mechanic didn't realize how bad it was. I brought the truck back because the vibrating was getting worse. My belief was that putting new tires on the back and putting the old rear tires on the front would alleviate the vibrating because it was only in the front left. My mechanic was about to this when he discovered just how bad the wheel bearing was. He said that if I pushed it too hard, the front right wheel could detach from the truck. I was afraid to drive the truck home at this point, and my mom came to get me and Amanda. My mechanic expedited the parts, and the truck should be ready by tomorrow afternoon.

5 lugs are a bit involved.
You have to pull and press the bearings, on and off.
It’s a bit time consuming. Enough so, that you definitely want good parts.
$1600 is “bad” if you are having a shop do it.

    It’s not good, either.

But it is, what it is.

Pay the bill and move on.
    That’s all you can do.

Shawn's wheel bearing was bad like that, it was roaring so bad that it even made me nervous. Think l ended up telling you that we just picked up a junkyard spindle so that we didn't have to run around trying to get a bearing pressed in.

Book hours are about 6 hours for the job.
    UCA, Hub/Bearing, and Alignment.
No idea on parts. That's up to your mechanic.

So, What ever shop rate is, plus parts.
    Here it averages $130.00/hr

None of the above matters. It has to be done.

I took a postal exam many years ago and was placed like 87th in line to be hired, ironically years after moving to Ohio I finally got a letter to be hired.

@Stitchgirl90 was telling me about the postal exam. What exactly does it entail, and do I need to study for it?

I went through the test like 35 - 40 years ago so dont remember too much other than purchasing a book to study from and doing mock tests with an egg timer. The letter of hire probably came 6 or 7 years after taking the test and I honestly had completely forgotten all about it.

What test could you possibly need to be a mailman or a post office custodian? I feel like for the former, you need to take a road test behind the wheel of a mail truck and get some other basic training, then you're ready to go...

If my memory is correct there were lots of names and numbers on the test all mixed up and you have to be able to process everything very quickly. Things may have changed to more computer stuff today, but its worth looking into seeing if they still sell study guides.

I looked into it a couple of years ago. At the time it wouldn't have worked for me because I wasn't getting guaranteed hours at first. But it's good pay, good insurance, plus a union job. They do hire for desk help as well as actual carriers/drivers. Do the thing, man..

I worked at Autozone for about 1 year when I was 19.
I liked the job, and they wanted me to be the assistant manager.
But they wouldn’t give me full time hours to get any benefits.

Great company to work for when I was there.
