Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
I'm team gaia, but I've co-piloted on-x. I think on-x seems to be easier in terms of file management, and it's just overall a shorter learning curve to jump onboard.

But now that I've had gaia for 2 years, the seamless sync between laptop and phone is huge, especially with me planning to add a tablet to the off-road mix at some point.

Don't think you can go wrong with either of them though, I've heard some people that do more travel outside of AZ will find dead spots with Gaia that are covered by On-x - haven't found an issue for my needs as long as I make note to download the trail info.

Random question but does anyone know a reputable shop that will do the ECGS bushing install? I have not asked my local shop yet but just thought I would ask. I am not super comfortable yet with doing that install myself as I am relatively new to car maintenance. Thanks in advance.

P.S. local to me is Phoenix Arizona :)

Maybe @Maxx can install for you if he’s doing side work and someone has the tool?

It is a pretty straight forward job a couple people here could do it. If you were in show low I would do it. @Maxx if he is still looking for side work.

    Edit: Beat me to it.

I use OnX, I got a super cheap first year at the Overland Expo last May. It is nice to be able to pull up the information quickly and track my routes. I do find that my old and cracked iPad Air 2 that I use for nav doesn't like to run it for very long before it overheats, but that's a device thing not the app.

Alcohol, truck propped up on jackstands, sensitive placement of long skinny bearings into greasy shaft ... what could possibly go wrong?

I subscribe to both Gaia and OnX based feedback from folks here. They each have their strengths and I like different info on both. OnX didn't have anything on the east side of Comb Ridge, but Gaia had campsites located, roads categorized. I used it. Gaia did a wonky dark mode thing right off the bat when I was up there then after 15 minutes or so switched to light mode and was way easier to read. They both snap to routes easy.

I don't like having to remember download the area and the route on Gaia and determining if I have everything I need to offline use. I do like the fact it sync's what you have on the 'puter. OnX you need to remember to select to download, then remember to put it in offline mode *before* you go offline otherwise it gets all wonky. I do like the discover feature on OnX, the rating of the trail, etc. I do think Gaia does a better job with their legend on defining road/trail

Biggest thing for me was getting an android tablet to use OnX on - gps chip built in as opposed to my iPad which is wifi only. I follow the route on my iPhone, but plan on the pc or tablet.

lol no problem, yeah those little bearings suck. They do offer a problem if you break that bearing while trying to get it out. And half of a coors light while the front driver corner is in the air I can manage. Its usually everyone else sitting back and heckling while someone is working.

I have used all of the above but OnX is a bit better for the updated maps.

What good is precision mechanical suspension work without ineberiated hecklers?

:notsure: How are you supposed to double check all your work if you dont have them saying stupid shit like "is this bolt important" or " dont crossthread that"

I thought there was a law in AZ that if you are a man working on a truck with tools that you had to drink beer. I mean, is there any other way?
