They are starting to put them on many new trucks now. I think the 24 Frontiers have it. Just seems like something that isn't really needed that will be a pain down the road.

Unless it’s like the third gen’s and throws a charging system fault on the screen any time you sit in ACC mode for a few minutes. Couldn’t tell if the engine was running from the OP’s pictures.

No, always. These trucks will cost a fortune to repair after the warranty is up.

I haven't had one issue in 7.5 years. Just a 3rd brake light lens which they covered.
I don't need all this extra stuff on 4th for a huge amount more. Just more maintenance and repair.

Reason we will not keep my wife's RXh after the 125k warranty is up. The 14'' screen which by the way also controls all the climate controls, etc. is a $11k repair/replacement.

More stuff equals more problems and cost. Bottom line.

That's a great example of what I am talking about. Just give me simple switches.
Friends new explorer screen went out. Under warranty but astronomical cost.

I can ask my service writer but on the Lexus and similar infotainment system it’s a 5 figure repair/replace. Integrated into dash and control module is more than a stereo.

Same reason why you can forget about the Lexus GX550 being great. Great while still having a warranty perhaps. Upkeep will be expensive like Range Rovers.

[Update] My wife took the truck to Toyota at around 11:00 today they just released it at 4:30, I spoke with The mechanic that looked at it as well as the service manager, they were unable to determine what was wrong, All they ended up doing was clearing the engine codes and driving it for 30 mi to see if they would come back, I had talked with them about the information that has been shared in this form as well as another form and they found that very helpful, they said that they opened up a case number and they are waiting to hear back from Toyota corporate as to what to do next, they said as of now there's nothing they can do further, they said they will give me a call back to bring the vehicle in if Toyota issues a fix, other than that they said to contact them again if codes come back.

I think “some” is the key word here. I bet majority of 2016 owners had no issues.

I think 4G forum will make it seem like 4G is pile of junk, just like it did in the 3G forum.

There probably gonna be a bit more issues then ever but that’s because of all
This added complexity. I’m sure most 4G would be just fine.

It's a Toyota. The 4th Gen will have issues just like the 3rd Gen did at first but the important part is that Toyota will stand behind it and fix it. So being an early adopter just means you get to deal with early adopter hassles but does anyone really think Toyota is not going to do the right thing? I wouldn't hesitate to get a 1st Gen if it were a Toyota knowing this and assuming I really wanted the car and did not want to wait.
