I'm experimenting with solder and sheet metal patches...only to realize I bought the wrong type of solder. I need a flux/acid core to bond with sheet metal (which, this solder doesn't have).

So far, I managed to make a bigger hole out of a smaller hole...progress!

You can use standard solder, you just have to get paste flux and dab it on with a brush. You'll get the same result.

Would a properly calibrated flux capacitor work in this situation?

Interesting! I think I'll prefer the lazy method of having it built into the solder.

Small electronics or tinning wires, I prefer flux core. Bigger stuff, I think I would rather have paste.

I use paste flux for soldering small wire leads to LED tape lights. It makes a huge difference in getting the solder to stick. I'd definitely try it for something bigger like what you're doing. I think it will work better than flux core solder.

I had a good day yesterday, despite a rough start. I decided to take the kayak out from the secret beach, but the wind on that side of the island was too strong. So, I decided to try putting in at Pineland, and it was much calmer, at least by shore.

    20240311_080901.jpg

Tide was low, so I struggled to get to deeper water. I was going to head north along shore to hide from the wind, but it was too shallow. So, I followed the boat channel out towards a group of islands I'd been wanting to check out, and figured I'd just have to fight the wind.

I started catching fish about 100 yards from the tip of Black Key, but just Sea-Trout and Ladyfish.

    20240311_113457.jpg

Ladyfish make excellent shark bait, so I threw a few in the cooler.

I found a nice little beach on Cove Key, and took a little break to stretch my legs.

    20240311_140305.jpg

A little while after that, I saw a shark cruising the shallow water. It was kind of circling around, and I managed to get very close a few times. It was around 5' long. It's funny how much this would have terrified me a few years ago!

    Screenshot_20240311_142435_Gallery.jpg

I also caught the biggest Sea-Trout I've ever caught, 25". It was a fat fish, and strong. Released.

    20240311_153309.jpg

As I was loading up, I found this little guy crawling around. I was impressed by how aggressive it was, coming out of the shell to try to pinch me.

    20240311_174703.jpg

It was a great day! Unfortunately, I didn't use enough sunscreen, so I'll be hiding out indoors for a day or two. :bananadead:

Barely made it to the end of the run. :D
240 press unit rollers total x 2 bearings ea.
480 bearings total. = a lot to keep up with.
Sometimes they just shit the bed before the roller does.

I'm lucky, my press has an auto oiling system. 18 years and I haven't had an issue with anything!
