Rear Wrap Around Plate Bumper... Which One???

So I got hit yesterday & now I'm going to have to get a new bumper...
I really like the wraparound high-clearance ones, but I'm not 100% on which to go with...
Looking at CBI:


or ATO:


There are pro's & con's to both...

check out Relentless Fab's wrap around high clearance. everyone seems to love his work

 

just curious why do you want a wrap around one?

 

because they look badass & hardly anyone around me has one...
And I am actually going to lift my truck & do some wheeling with it this summer...

My only disappointment with the ATO is how the license plate is mounted...

 

i think either of them would look BA on your truck, esp because it's black

I vote CBI. Craftmanship and design into it is excellent. I hear ATO is very good too. Kevin fab work is good too. I have a full set of his skid plates. He too has excellent customer service. The reason I went with CBI is because they had a promotion a few months ago .$150 off and I liked that you could mount your license plate without purchasing a separate tow hitch plate adapter like you do with the ATO.

 

Subbed... Got hit last weekend and no way I am putting another stock one on there. Was thinking of going with a wrap around but I am a little hesitant about it as it may limit the number of potential buyers if I have to someday sell it (don't see this happening but you never know).

 

I vote ato out of those 2, ato gives you more clearance and looks better IMO.

Relentless also has one that looks good

I don't have that issue or fail to see what you are pointing out. Besides I think you would want to cut your bedside below your tail light line, to compensate for rear frame flex. You don't want your bumper to crush your rear tail lights or more of your bedsides.

Did it push it into the bed at all? Check that the fender flares are still flat against the bedside. It doesn't seem to take much to ding them.

Oh and to get back on topic, I like the Relentless myself.

 

I did not list the Relentless option because I'm not wild about the cut-out "R's" that are on the ends and the big round holes for back up lights that I don't want.
Relentless makes some phenomenal products & I will more than likely go with Eric for my sliders, but the wraparound is just not for me.

 

After our conversation this evening would you have any doubt???

I saw a CBI at our last meet in KOP a few weeks back & thought it was really well built.
I'd really like to see the ATO in person...

 

Fair enough. As potential frame flexing causing bumper to run into bedside, I personally left 3/4" gap between my bedsides and the lines of my bumper. Also just in case I slam my rear end into a rock ledge. Got to love that long wheel base.
