2024 Solar Eclipse - MONDAY April 8 2024

I just made a reservation at the Paul Smiths College alumni campground for that Sunday night, taking my daughters up. I’d feel bad if they didn’t get to experience this event as best I could provide. And yes, I’m using this as an excuse to take them on a truck camping trip. And the site cost me $8.

 

I’m still trying to figure out where pumps 2 and 3 are.

 

My wife’s first truck event, was under the guise of let’s go grab lunch and a beer at this brewery.

Then we pulled in and she was like “you tricked me into a date, and it’s just a bunch of trucks here,”. I said fry’s and what kind of beer do you want?

 

That's the uumm, other shack around back... with the half moon on the door.

WARNING: The "instructions" have gone missing and pump nozzles in that shack are cold in the winter

Vermont is going to be crazy busy. I am expecting big-time traffic heading south on Monday after the eclipse. We’ve got an AirBNB Saturday-Monday…

 

What I'm getting from this is that I can, and should, stare at the sun for the entire duration.

Yeah, winter hasn't quite decided to let go of northern VT yet. We got a few inches of new snow here in Cabot last night and it's currently snowing pretty steadily at my house. There's another foot or so predicted for Saturday across some of the higher elevations.

 

It ignores Burlington though

I mean, for us the flames are real. Moved up to VT in 2006, went to Burl Church Street 2 or 3 times early on. Crappy trendy overpriced niche chit as far as we are concerned. They couldn't even keep their "mall" open there, started to tear it down, then went "oh chit, our high school needs to be torn down too. Let's put all the kids into the abandoned Macy's for classes..."

It'll be 52 by Tuesday and begin the next big meltdown. Did someone mention mud season up this way? It may still be slightly messy on the dirt roads when you head up the following weekend. Test out dem mudder tires!!
