    The sensor was deleted in later year trucks. What happens if you don't plug in the sensor? Do you get an overheat warning?

    It's a temperature switch. Presumably earlier in 3rd gen development, Toyota had some concerns of front diff overheating that didn't materialize. (See? Your diff failed without overheating.)

    Just in case your next diff is the same as the one you got now just remove the sensor plug it into the harness and secure it outside the diff and call it a day

    Out of sight, out of mind. Hopefully the dealer will dig around looking for a sensor that may or may not be there depending on the build month/year. Plus, aint that hidden behind a skid plate?
