I have a 2023 Tacoma and I’m going in for my 15,000 mile service and they said I don’t need an oil change. I bought the service warranty, does that check out? I thought it would be changed everything 5,000 miles. Maybe I’m just dumb haha

It’s rather debatable, but Toyota states the regular interval is 10k.

the severe service schedule is 5k, it’s in the manual.

The dealer will only changed every 10k, but I changed mine every 5k.

Def change every 5k if you live in a “high dust environment”

I’m changing mine every 5k. Not worth the risk of stuck rings, in my opinion. Been there, done that.

i had free oil change at 10k and 20k, i had dealership move to 5k and 10k no problem. i then change oil myself there after.
fumoto really helps. while it's draining i also grease the uca's. easy peasy.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
unfortunately the dealers would rather your car burn up and need to buy a new one.

The truck clearly indicates service at 5k. It was designed by the engineers and programmed into the vehicle to tell you this. Those that think this means rotate your tires are kidding yourselves. 10k OCI’s are when marketing takes priority over engineering. Tell the dealer you quality for “severe” service or take it elsewhere.

I got a lifetime oil change package from my dealer when I finalized the paperwork on my truck. They told me to bring it in every 5k and being in AZ with all the dust. I do. The only downside is having to schedule it and then losing all the time at the dealership. The other negative I'm discovering, is that they won't top off any of the other fluids. The first time I noticed it, they tried to sell me a power steering flush/service at 40k. I had already been there 2.5 hours and was ready to go, so I politely declined. When I got home I noticed my power steering fluid was below the low level, smh. So I topped it off myself and pressed on. I just had my last oil change last month. They actually had me out in less than an hour but then this passed Friday I noticed my clutch pedal was really soft. Found that reservoir completely empty. Refilled it and then bled it shortly after. Haven't found a leak or even a hint of one. So I'm wondering what happened there too. But again, They didn't top it off.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Not the dealership I bought from, but where I take it does every 5k.

If it has been 12 months since the last oil and filter change, I would definitely do it. I battle with my FIL all the time over this: 6 months or 5,000 miles which ever comes first. He has a beautiful 2014 Camry XLE or something with about 23k on it: I bug him to do it every 6 months because it would take him way more than 12 months to reach 5,000 miles. FIL: "It's only 3,500 miles since the last oil change"!!! Old school. The only way I win the argument is to make an appointment and grab the keys when he's not looking and get it done on my dime. He always pays me back but I leave the cash and the invoice under his cell-phone on the kitchen table before I leave. Victory will be when he gets it done himself....but he's 90 so I'm thinking I'm going to lose the battle..... I'm running out on the "months and miles" too. :proposetoast:lol

Tell them you tow a 4k lb trailer during the week and go 4-wheeling on the weekends.

My apologies!! Sorry! The answer is: 5,000 miles..... (Even if it took ten years to get there) I play "the hover-son-in-law" over this as I believe his is one of the Camry's that had the known: "oil-return-passages-too-small-so-they-clog-up if you don't change the oil" issue. I really aim for 6-months regardless of mileage but it's a hard sell.

Fun part: since I give them my info and they think it's my Camry, I get offers to buy it for: $xx,xxx. I show him the mails and threaten him to trade it in on a new Tacoma. lol

Sweet your doing it because you care, I do the same with my aunt and her prius i got her to do transmission fluid change at 120k after nagging , coolant ,and i started to clean the hybrid battery fan filter because they charged her $200 something last time the maintenance light came on (its real easy to clean) and of course i remind her to do oil changes before 10k , only because she didnt do her first oil change till 15k miles! Thats what got me to get on her case, and luckily i went with her to the casino that time.Im not a fan of the casino:spending: that day i found out about her not being so diligent.
