Bought the '23 Toyota TRD-OR in May of 2023. That's the end of a seven year old platform. I haven't had any of the issues above but I am on my third recall now. This last one says something about your drive axle may break in two and they don't have a fix for it. How is this just now coming to light on a 7 year old platform? How do they not have a fix for that?

One of the Primo Reasons to get the last years of a platform is because all of the bugs and kinks have been worked out.

I'm convinced it is just luck of the draw on which model you selected. My '17 bought in '16 has not had a single recall. It has had 2 "service campaigns" (blower wheel might crack and rear brake light might leak, my truck had neither issue, but got fixed anyways) and some warranty work done (3 TSB things?), but no recalls.

Hopefully it's smooth sailing for you going forward.

It’s because of many reasons. Machines becoming out of tolerance, laziness from the workers not checking things. It might be where they have to inspect and remove the MFG debris or reject them but that “check box” is getting skipped over. If Toyota cares so much about “kaizen” then they should invest in making it better instead of redesigning with issues like ford.

2021 with the creaky clutch. It also has the timing cover leak and is in the shop being fixed.

My biggest issue is not enough places to go off-roading in Northern NJ... other than that, fill the tank, change the oil every 5k, and drive! So far she's the most low maintenance vehicle I've had. My Ranger was a fix it every other week vehicle but that was 20 years old so to be expected.

I checked both Rear differential and 3d brake light leak, both were covered under recalls, differential was leaking but not the 3d brake light, had it fixed anyway!! My 2016 has been awesome!!!

right now vibration issues fit into other.
the discussions are significant enough to warrant their own categories.
    "deceleration vibration 30-10mph"
    "other vibration issues when driving"

clearly non-scientific but a good way to see what people (not sheeple) find wrong with this truck.
could easily aid a potential buyer doing due diligence, rather than fishing thru zillions of posts.

i will wait for vibration categories before adding my vote. late categories already screwing up results.

edit: another significant issues is "loose spark plugs from factory" though i bet most that have it don't know it yet.

I love my third gen, but one thing that drives me nuts is the headunit can be kind of laggy. If I plug my phone in right after I start the truck it will pair to carplay ok but it wont play music. I wish it was a little more responsive upon starting the truck up

I had that too, along with TSS sensor and fuel pump recall. Had nothing fail in my truck so far though.

I think it is just that the welders got a little crazy and purportedly some welding debris could cause some of the retaining nuts to loosen, and *that* is when your axle could go kaboom.

I've not found anecdotally anyone who has reported any issues out of this recall yet (i.e., nut torque out of spec, or worse, axle actually broke) and Toyota doesn't say 'do not drive' so I'm not really worried about it.

Personally I'm only at 1.3k miles on my 3rd gen so by the time I'm gonna be at my 5k oil change I may as well take it to the dealership and they should have the "remedy" available by then.

Trucks been flawless besides feeling like I get rear ended at every stop from the downshift clunk, and bogging/wont downshift out of turns. Really wish Toyota would have at least tried to help. Half a dozen visits to the dealer didn't do it…

You may add wind whistle from driver side mirror at speed and vibration deceleration from 50+mph. Folks did complain about that on the 2023 Taco.
