Anyone have a trusted shop to replace leaf springs in the Western New York area? Stealership quoted me $4500 to do both, which is obviously insane...

Leaf spring replacement is a super easy job, at most 2 hours of labor so ~$300 max for labor. What leafs are you using for replacement? Can you post a picture of the dealership quote with price breakdown?

Northtown didn't provide a full breakdown, but assuming they're using the standard OEM for replacements. While moderately comfortable with minor repairs on the taco, I don't have the tools to deal with any broken bolts, etc. from the rust of 12 years of Buffalo winters...

You could try posting your issue in the NE forum: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/north-east.38/ or the Hudson Valley forum: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hudson-valley-of-ny-thread.796007/

Maybe someone reasonably close to you can provide a recommendation or do the work for you themselves. Can you describe the issue you're having that necessitates the leaf spring replacement, i.e. broken leaf, etc. Are you replacing with OEM springs? If the need for replacement isn't urgent you may be able to find a set of low-mileage take offs from someone who upgraded to an aftermarket leaf pack.

In any case I'd look for an independent shop local to you and get another quote. $4500 is far too high.

Thanks - I'll post over there. Have a broken leaf and was told it wouldn't pass inspection with said broken leaf (inspection isn't due until June so I have a little time). I'm just looking to replace with OEM as I'm not doing anything that would require something stronger. Thanks again!
